The Water School is a great a non-profit organization whose mission is to “provide simple, safe, strategic, and sustainable clean water solutions to the developing world.” Yesterday morning, Gregg McNair, a Director at the Water School, emailed me to let me know that the organization was chosen as a STARS Foundation Award recipient, and they will receive a $100,000 grant plus other incentives.
The STARS Foundation is a Saudi backed and London-based philanthropy fund. According to the email I received announcing the news, “Stars Foundation was established by Al-Dabbagh Group in 2001, and counts President Bill Clinton and Her Majesty Queen Rania Al-Abdullah as its Founding Patrons.”
This award is not only great for financial reasons, but the organization will also receive other benefits. The gala award ceremony where the Water School was honored was held last week at Kensington Palace in London.
The Water School is strongly supported by many domain investors, including NamesCon founder Richard Lau who serves as Executive Director. In fact, hundreds of domain investors will gather at Water Night, a party held during NamesCon, to help raise funds for the Water School. The January 14th event will be held at Tropicana Hotel’s Havana Room nightclub and is open to NamesCon attendees and others who wish to support the organization.
I noticed that WaterNight is being called a gala.
Is it black tie / formal?
