Water Night Raises $90k for Water School

Water SchoolWater Night is the annual party thrown at the end of NamesCon to raise money for the non-profit Water School. Conference sponsors and NamesCon attendees join together for a party at the Havana Room in the Tropicana Hotel, and proceeds from the event are donated to the Water School.

Yesterday evening, the Water School tweeted out that the event raised about $90,000 in funds. The Water School also mentioned that this amount of money will help 2,500 families:

One of the most fun part of the night is the "water shave," where several members of the domain industry volunteer to have their heads shaved to raise funds for the Water School. This year, participants included (more…) → Read More

Gregg McNair Launches Premium Traffic Limited

ptlMonetizing my domain name traffic has never been a major revenue driver for my companies, but it is a big driver of revenue in the domain business. In fact, according to Dr. Gregg McNair, "In ten years monetization revenues have never been higher and they continue to grow."

I received a press release over the weekend that was timed to coincide with the DomainFest Asia conference being held in Hong Kong. In the release, the launch of Premium Traffic Limited (PTL) was announced. According to the press release, there have been a number of different brands within the McNair Monetization Group, and those brands have all been consolidated into one unit called Premium Traffic Limited. I was told that this move has been in the works for over a year.

Gregg shared a bit of insight into the company. "Being ahead of the competition in technical development and traffic quality are our two primary advantages," he shared via email. In addition to timing the news with DomainFest Asia, the company also made the announcement in advance of → Read More

Water School Wins STARS Foundation Award

The Water School  is a great  a non-profit organization whose mission is to  "provide simple, safe, strategic, and sustainable clean water solutions to the developing world."  Yesterday morning, Gregg McNair, a Director at the Water School, emailed me to let me know that the organization was chosen as a  STARS Foundation Award recipient, and they will receive a $100,000 grant plus other incentives.

The STARS Foundation is a Saudi backed and London-based philanthropy fund. According to the email I received announcing the news, "Stars Foundation was established by Al-Dabbagh Group in 2001, and counts President Bill Clinton and Her Majesty Queen Rania Al-Abdullah as its Founding Patrons."

This award is not only great for financial reasons, but the organization (more…) → Read More

Special Blog Advertising Opportunity to Help The Water School

During the Traffic conference, I learned quite a bit about The Water School, a non-profit organization whose mission is to "provide simple, safe, strategic, and sustainable clean water solutions to the developing world." A number of prominent domain investors have been actively supporting the project, and a special domain investor climb of Mt. Kilimanjaro is planned for March, with the proceeds being donated to The Water School.

I think this organization's goals are very worthy, and I want to help in my own small way. Above each post, and at the top of the index page on my blog, I have space for a 468x60 banner. A DN Forum banner currently occupies the top of the main index page, and the four color on hover banners are on the top of individual post pages.

From November 15 through the end of the year, I am offering this top spot to one company, and the proceeds will be donated by me to The Water School. If your company is interested in this advertising opportunity that will benefit The Water School, drop me an email and I will → Read More
