Domain name submissions are now being accepted for the NamesCon Global domain name auction, according to an email I received from GoDaddy. This year, the live auction will be hosted by GoDaddy. The online portion of the auction will run on the GoDaddy Auctions platform. In previous years, the auction was hosted by NameJet. GoDaddy acquired the parent company of NamesCon in 2016. The live auction will be held during the NamesCon Global conference in Austin, Texas on January 30, 2020.
I understand there will be approximately 120 domain names for sale during the live auction, and approximately 500 domains names included in the entire NamesCon auction. Upon the conclusion of the live auction, unsold domain names and domain names not included in the live auction will be moved to the silent auction, which concludes on February 14, 2020.
Submissions for the auction are now being accepted. GoDaddy is partnering with Right of the Dot (ROTD) to select and auction the domain names. Right of the Dot founder Monte Cahn has been running auctions for many years, and I am pretty sure he has helped operate many of the major conference auctions for more than 10 years. Domain investors who would like to submit their domain names may now do so via the ROTD website. I presume the team evaluating domain names for inclusion will be looking for the highest quality domain names with reserve prices that are low enough to close deals.
Before submitting domain names to the auction, I recommend reading all of the details about submitting domain names, including commission and exclusivity details.
Some of the domain names that will be included in the auction include Laptop.com, Arcades.com, Offices.com, Lasers.com, and Calories.com. I am not sure what the reserve price ranges for those auctions are.
Bidding for the auction will open on GoDaddy Auctions on December 1, which will give investors a first look at the domain names that are in the NamesCon auction.
Feel free to post any questions here or reach out to Monte Cahn or a GoDaddy representative for details.
Thanks for the info.
It’s about time NamesCon auctions went through GoDaddy Auctions and not NameJet! Better auctions platform.
Would you bid on a Godaddy auction at the moment? I wouldn’t.
I meant more eyeballs will see the domains at GoDaddy than on NJ.
Thanks Mark. We are going to have a really great auction this year. I am looking forward to it.
Very Excited to be working with GoDaddy this year! I am again running the RightOfTheDot / ROTD.com live / online and extended auction at the 2020 NamesCon Global conference in Austin, Texas on January 30th. Pre-bidding and the extended auctions will be hosted and accessible through our partner GoDaddy Auctions starting the first week of December at Auctions.GoDaddy.com . This will be my 6th Live and Online auction at a NamesCon conference so looking forward to the best one yet! Submissions are open now at: http://rotd.com/auction-submission/
