Rightside Hires Dwayne Walker

Domain industry veteran Dwayne Walker was hired by Rightside as Senior Vice President of Business Development. In this role, Dwayne will oversee all new business development opportunities across Rightside brands including eNom, Name.com, NameJet, and the Rightside Registry. With Rightside’s position in the market, this seems like an excellent opportunity for him.

Taryn Naidu shared the news with me, and spoke highly of Dwayne. “Dwayne will be heading up our BD efforts across the entire organization as we continue to develop the market for new TLDs,” Naidu informed me. “We’re excited to have him on board.”

If you’ve been to a domain conference or have an account at Domain Sponsor, you probably had the opportunity to meet Dwayne. I’ve seen him at most of the domain conferences I’ve attended, and he has spoken on several panels. He knows the domain space and is well connected with many of the corporate leaders in the space, and that should serve him well in this role.

Before joining Rightside, Dwayne served in SVP and GM roles for Domain Sponsor, TrafficMatch.com and aftermarket domain sales for Oversee.net. He has also held executive management positions at Fidelity, Microsoft and other technology companies where his responsibilities included sales, marketing, business development, engineering, and product management. Dwayne has also served on the board of directors at Escrow.com, iClick.com, FreeShop.com, Micro General and other Internet companies.

For the past several days, Rightside has been trading in “when issued” status under the NAMEV ticker symbol on the Nasdaq stock exchange. As of its closing stock price on Friday, Rightside has a market cap of $287.99M. The company will begin trading under the NAME symbol on Monday morning.
