Sunday Morning Domain Industry Thoughts and Updates

9

I wish this wasn’t the last day of April. It’s been a pretty solid  month for my business, and I hope the same can be said for you. My domain name portfolio is relatively  small, so my good month  doesn’t necessarily mean anything on a macro level. My guess is that the improving stock market is giving more people and companies confidence in spending money on things like domain names. I am not an economist, so that is just a guess.

Here are a few thoughts and updates this weekend. You are welcome to share your thoughts and updates as well.

I had a good lunch meeting with Alan Shiflett and Rich Green from Afternic last week. It’s always nice to see these guys and catch up and chat about business. One downside to working for myself is that I don’t really have people with whom I can “talk shop.” It’s great to be able to get together with people like Alan and Rich.

Efty is now advertising on DomainInvesting.com! I appreciate their supporting/sponsoring my blog. It takes a considerable amount of time and effort to publish an industry blog, and I appreciate the support of industry companies.

Speaking of advertisers – Payoneer Escrow’s 50% off escrow offer for the month of April expires

Domain Industry News Updates

8

Another busy week is in the books. I had a group of 50 or so auctions at NameJet last week, and it is always exciting to watch auctions close. Whether there are last minute bidders or not, it is fun to see how auctions do.

Here are some domain industry news updates from the last week. If you have other news updates to share that I missed or you think others might want to know about, I invite you to share.

The XCI.com auction on DropCatch.com is ending this afternoon. Bidding is over $20,000. It’s not very often that you see a LLL.com domain name dropped.

I will be keeping my eyes on a couple of recent UDRP filings

5 Super Bowl Sunday Thoughts and Updates

Super Bowl Sunday is one of my favorite days of the year.  Either my team (New England Patriots), is  playing in the Super Bowl, or I am excited to hang out with friends and watch the commercials. Whatever the case is, the Super Bowl is usually played right in the middle of the Winter. This means that the days are starting to get longer and I can begin looking forward to the  Spring. I love the Winter in Boston, but I am very happy when it is over.

This evening, Tom Brady will be  playing to win his fifth Super Bowl. I thought I would share 5 thoughts and updates prior to the big game tonight. You are welcome to share some of your thoughts as well.

Sunday Afternoon Updates

7

Since the passing of Lonnie Borck, I have been doing my best to spend more time with my family. I find myself waking up earlier, taking the kids to lunch during the day, and just finding the time to have quality time with my wife and our  kids. It feels good to be able to do that, and I find myself  worrying less about less important things. I wish it didn’t take the passing of a friend to get me to focus more on my family.

Here are a few thoughts and updates as we get ready to start a new week. You are welcome to share your own updates in the comment section if you have anything to add.

Some Weekly Thoughts and Updates

I don’t know about you, but I am getting excited for the NFL season to begin. It’s nice to be a Patriots fan because the team is almost always very good. The only downside to the beginning of the football season is that it means the Summer is coming to an end.

Here are some domain name thoughts and updates I want to share with you. If you have other industry thoughts and updates, I invite you to share them in the comment section.
