The .NYC registry team, which is managed by Neustar, held its 2019 Best of Boroughs Awards to honor five organizations that use .NYC domain name in each borough of New York City. Each of the five winners received a cash prize of $5,000. Over 50,000 votes were cast to select the winning groups.

Last night, .NYC hosted an award presentation, and the 5 winning groups were announced. Here are the 2019 Best of Boroughs Award winners:
- Manhattan: Zero Studios (Zero.nyc)
- Brooklyn: Lookit Design (HepFree.nyc)
- Queens: City Mission (CityMission.nyc)
- Bronx: Intervine (Intervine.nyc)
- Staten Island: MakerSpace NYC (MakerSpace.nyc)
All of these businesses and organizations were honored for the work they do in their respective communities. The nominees and award winners are real people making a real difference in their local community – either with their business or organization. Each group that was nominated for an award chose to use a .NYC domain name for its online presence. You can have a look at the full list of nominees of the BestOf.NYC website.
I think these awards are a great way to build local awareness of .NYC domain names.
Why would you take the *world wide* web and needlessly restrict yourself to a geographic location? It makes sense for some, but not for most others.
If you look at the names and businesses, most could not get the brand match .com, and it looks like most are based in NYC and tightly connected there.
I think you answred you own question Josh – makes sense for some…
Fantastic ! Thanks for posting
Josh not every one is hyped on global presence although they do attract global interest organically because of where they are.
