.NYC Travel and Tourism Sale Results

0

The .NYC registry (operated by Neustar) organized a sale of travel and tourism related .NYC domain names. A domain name auction concluded on Sedo yesterday. This was the culmination of a campaign to generate publicity about .NYC domain names focused on the travel sector.

I was only aware of the Sedo auction, but there was more to the campaign than the auction. Here is a bit more background about the campaign shared with me by Neustar:

"Our campaign initiatives focused on a headlining auction with several high value premium domain names in the .nyc namespace, as well as an additional set of “buy now” travel and tourism-inspired premium domain names available directly through registrars. Having both the auction and buy now premium domain names available created significant demand and interest in the .nyc namepace."

The campaign produced a total of (more…) → Read More

If you missed the Neustar webinar aimed to .brand prospects that discussed how the company launched its .Neustar extension. The approximately 30 minute webinar covered a variety of topics, including technical aspects of the transition, the communications plan to notify a variety of stakeholders, and a discussion about some of the biggest opportunities for brands who want to launch and use .brand domain names.

Not only does Neustar believe in the .brand domain name, but the company made the leap on its own extension. Here's a video of the webinar that was just conducted:

Neustar Webinar About Launching .Neustar TLD

Neustar is obviously a big proponent of the new gTLD domain name extensions. Last year, the company launched its .Neustar brand TLD, and its website can now be found at Home.Neustar. In an effort to promote .Brand extensions, the company is hosting a free webinar to share some of the things the company learned when it launched its own extension.

Here are some of the topics the company intends to cover in the webinar, as shared by them:

What technical and operational steps went into our launch
How we built a communications plan for stakeholders around the change
Where we see some of the biggest opportunities and challenges of a .brand transition

There is quite a bit of technical (more…) → Read More

Neustar Video: Potential of .Brand Domain Names

3

Neustar is in the business of helping brands with their .brand new gTLD domain name extensions. The company recently introduced a series of webinars aimed at decision makers responsible for implementing and managing .brand domain name extensions.

I want to share a video that was posted by Neustar "which paints a picture about the potential of .brand TLDs." There are probably companies who applied for their .brand extension or companies that are considering an application for a .brand, and this webinar series is aimed at convincing these companies of the utility and marketability of .brand domain names.

You are welcome to share your thoughts in the comment section.

Tony Kirsch to Host .brands Webinar

Tony Kirsch is the Head of Professional Services at Neustar and is also the company's .brand Evangelist. According to a tweet from Neustar and a LinkedIn post Tony  shared, Tony and Neustar will be hosting a free webinar series "designed specifically for .brand owners to provide an update on the space and share examples, analysis and best practice."

The first webinar will be held on Thursday, June 1 at 4:00pm Eastern time. Registration is required, so people interested in attending should sign up prior to the start of the webinar. Because of the nature of the webinar, I presume it will be archived and available to review at a later date for people who are unable to attend the live webinar.

According to the webinar page, here are the topics that will be covered during the first webinar next Thursday: (more…) → Read More

How Brands Should Market Their .Brand Domain Names

11

Having popular brands use .brand domain names for business and marketing is something that is going to help drive awareness of the new gTLD program. I think consumer confusion about new gTLD domain extensions is one of the biggest issues that needs to be overcome. When a brand uses a .brand extension, it needs to be clear that they are promoting a domain name and not using it as a gag (ala the fictitious Booking.Yeah tagline from Booking.com).

Tony Kirsch, the ".brand Evangelist" and Head of Professional Services at Neustar Inc., wrote a blog post advising brands about how to use and market their .brand domain names to avoid confusion. This is a good read for brand managers, but it is also a good read for domain investors who invest in or develop new domain names.

Here are some of the suggested ways for brands to market new domain extensions, although I think these tips can be used by others who operated websites on the new domain extensions: (more…) → Read More
