Varidesk Rebrands as Vari – Acquired Vari.com in 2016

One of the smartest purchases I made several years ago was a Varidesk stand up desk and floor pad. I don’t really adjust my desk, but I like having a standing desk in my office. Although Varidesk has become well known for its stand-up desks, the company doesn’t only make desks. Having Varidesk as its brand name was somewhat limiting to it though.

In fact, Varidesk recently rebranded as Vari, and the reason for the rebrand can be found on its homepage:

“We started with desks, but now we’re so much more. We offer everything from space planning and design services to flexible office furniture and turnkey office space solutions. We are Vari®, and we create workspaces that elevate people.”

Braden Pollock shared a Dallas Business Journal article with me that has more information about the company’s rebrand, which was made much easier because it smartly acquired the Vari.com domain name several years ago.

I looked through my email to see if I could find any mentions of Vari.com. I saw emails from NameJet highlighting upcoming pending delete auctions from 2016, and Vari.com was mentioned. NameBio shows that Vari.com sold for $8,088 via SnapNames in January of 2016.

Using the Whois History tool from DomainTools, it looks like the Vari.com domain name was acquired by a domain investor in the SnapNames auction. From what I can tell, Varidesk acquired the domain name shortly thereafter.

Whatever the company paid to acquire Vari.com several years ago, I am sure the investment was well worth it.

  1. Elliot – I clicked through after reading the excerpt in my email because I really wanted to see you stood up at your Varidesk, socks on pad, with your coffee, working away. I’m a little disappointed.
