Radix Premium Domains Revenue Hits $3m in 2019

Radix shared its Premium Domains sales report for the second half of 2019 along with full year totals. The company reports that it sold $3 million worth of its premium domain name inventory, which is the company’s best year to date. Radix reported $1.67 million in sales for the second half of 2019. This is an improvement over the $1.36 million in sales Radix reported for the first half of 2019.

Here are some of the call-outs that Radix highlighted from its bi-annual report:

  • $1.67M in revenue; 22% growth over H1 2019 which was at $1.36M
  • Closed 2019 at $3M in Premium Revenue, our best year so far
  • .online, .tech and .store were the highest-grossing TLDs with respect to premium sales
  • 220+ names sold with a price tag of $1,000 or more
  • 82% of premium domains registered in of before 2018 were renewed
  • clean.tech was the highest one time sale in this period at $30,000 via SEDO

If you would like to have a look at the full report, you can download the .pdf file here.

Some of the other interesting aspects of the report include the number of sold domain names (and revenue) from each of the extensions operated by Radix, including .Tech, .Online, .Store, .Site, and others. It looks like .Tech was the highest performing extension for the company in the second half of 2019. Surprisingly, .Host was the worst performing extension for Radix during that time period, with just over $5k in sales (8 domain names sold).

The registrars where the largest volume of Radix premium domain names were sold were GoDaddy, Google, and Namecheap. Ten domain names were sold in the second half of 2019 which have annual wholesale renewal prices of $10,000. Twenty domain names that were sold have wholesale annual renewal fees of $5,000. Radix shared a list of the number of names that were sold at different premium wholesale price levels.

The report is pretty interesting, and I think it helps illustrate how Radix is growing the business and building a recurring revenue stream.

  1. I want to make sure I understand this –
have annual wholesale renewal prices of $10,000. Twenty domain names that were sold have wholesale annual renewal fees of $5,000.

are you saying that companies like Godaddy.com buy premium domain names so they can resell them and have higher premium annual renewal rates?
