NamesCon is hosting an online domain industry conference, NamesCon Online, next month. The event will be held from September 9-11, 2020, and tickets to attend are an affordable $59. When I wrote about the NamesCon Auction earlier this week, I was under the impression that this event was taking the place of the NamesCon Global conference held each year in January. I was incorrect.
NamesCon Global is still scheduled to be held in Austin, Texas this coming January. Obviously, this event and its location depends on the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic. We should have an update by the end of September or early October.
A representative from NamesCon shared the following comment with me discussing upcoming NamesCon events:
NamesCon Online is a new format that we start independently. The Intention is to bridge the gap and create an opportunity for the industry to get together with all potential touch points disappearing during covid. Also we need to learn about running a virtual event and introducing it to Attendees and partner to understand how it works and how to work with it. Post-Covid, we will definitely include more virtual/digital parts to the events, if it is hybrid additions or as now a full virtual event added to the calendar. So far, our event calendar for 2021 ist still planned with 2 in-person events and 1 virtual event. We need to decide by end of September how we going to act on Austin.NamesCon Global 2021 January 27th-30th AustinNamesCon Europe 2021 July 15th-17th Budapest https://namescon.com/europe/ NamesCon Online 2021 September Virtual
This is awesome..I hope to “see” and hear savvy domainers but really businessowners who specialize in domains…Not gonna name names but I hope to hear a talk with Mr. Elliot Silver, Mr. Morgan Linton and of course Mr. Mike Mann and Mr. Frank Schilling and of course my domain sherpa and DN Academy Professor extraordinaire Mr. Michael Cyger. Sorry for this rant but I want to spread happiness wherever I go like I do on LinkedIn #MrBrightside. I embrace domain names because I am a domainer (domain collector).
This seems really optimistic.
Yes JoeB I hope the convention will be awesome.
Elliot – you might let them know that they could get some ideas free from Michael Barnett at Ingo.me – they are knocking it out of the park with spreading learning about best practices for virtual events (free webinars)

I knew it wasn’t replacing NamesCon Global. It is replacing NamesCon Europe this year.
It won’t happen, especially in Texas which is full of Corona.
With the CVS2 situation in the US currently, I think they’re expecting too much to be able to have NC in January – NCEU next summer is _probably_ feasible, but I can’t see NCUS actually happening.
