With the coronavirus pandemic canceling or indefinitely postponing in-person conferences around the world this year, the NamesCon Europe conference scheduled for August in Budapest, Hungary was also postponed. This morning, NamesCon conference organizers announced a new virtual conference that will take place in September. The event is called NamesCon 360°.
NamesCon 360° will be held virtually from September 9 – 11, 2020. Specific details are sparse right now, but the event will not be held via Zoom. Instead, it will be an “Immersive Experience” and participants will participate through their web browser and/or mobile device. On the NamesCon 360° website, there is quite a bit of information about what the event will feature and what participants can expect to get out of the event. There aren’t many specific details about the event yet, but I am sure that will be coming soon.
Registration is not yet open nor is the cost to attend or sponsor listed.
As I wrote before, I am not a fan of online conferences. As much as I enjoy attending NamesCon, I am not sure I will participate, especially if there is a cost (I have always bought my NamesCon ticket and would not accept a free one). I do not have the attention span to sit through online presentations, especially if I am watching the kids who could be home from school. I will do my best to keep an open mind and will keep an eye out for the specific details about the event.
Here’s the announcement from NamesCon:
“This is the perfect time to be in the domain industry—and the perfect time to start investing. Having the right domain name isn’t just a key to success these days—it’s crucial to survival for most businesses in a post-COVID-19 world. So NamesCon is coming directly to domainers around the globe with its first-ever digital event.
NamesCon 360° will feature live and on-demand presentations, workshops, networking, and deal-making opportunities on a scale not yet done in the domain industry. Besides bringing elements you love from NamesCon straight to your home or office, we’re adding some new features that can only be done in a virtual environment.
Join us September 9th through 11th, 2020: save the dates right now and read on for more details.”
I posted a poll on Twitter to ask if readers will attend: https://twitter.com/DInvesting/status/1273974952526561283
Dude, they are having large gatherings…tens of thousands of folks…probably 100,000 or so folks in Tulsa this weekend. How could they have that if virus is problem?
I think this virus thing is over. No? I know I will be watching!
NamesCon, too.
