Shortly after the untimely and unexpected passing of Lonnie Borck in 2016, the Internet Commerce Association (ICA) named an award in his memory with the approval and participation of Lonnie’s family. Each year since, the ICA has continued to honor Lonnie’s memory with the Lonnie Borck Memorial Award.
The Lonnie Borck Memorial Award honors someone from the domain name business who deserves recognition for making an “exceptional contribution to fostering a sense of community within the domain name industry.” Anyone from within the domain industry can nominate another domain industry participant who they believe is deserving of the award.
Yesterday afternoon, the ICA announced that nominations are now open for the 2024 Lonnie Borck Memorial Award. If you would like to nominate someone for the Award, now is the time to do it. Once the ICA reviews and approves the nominees, members of the ICA will vote for the winner. The nomination period is open now until the end of this month.
Here is a list of the past winners of the Lonnie Borck Memorial Award:
- 2022 – Andrew Allemann
- 2021 – Michael Cyger
- 2020 – Ron Jackson
- 2019 – John Berryhill
- 2018 – Kathy Kleiman
- 2017 – David Weslow
The 2024 Lonnie Borck Memorial Award will be presented to the winner at the ICA Member Meeting in Las Vegas this January.
If you’re involved in the domain industry, you are welcome to nominate a fellow industry colleague for this year’s award.
