Hueston.com: Big Flip for Mike Mann

I was browsing Twitter this morning when I noticed the tweet embedded below from Mike Mann, announcing the sale of Hueston.com for $25,000. This is a solid sale price, but even more impressive is the ROI achieved from the sale. Mann reportedly acquired the Hueston.com domain name in March of 2011 for $69.

Judging by the $69 price point and the fact that the Whois shows the domain name had been

NameJet Makes It Easier to List Domain Names for Sale

I have heard and read quite a few complaints about the difficulty in privately listing domain names for sale on NameJet. From what I understand, the company has not added on many private sellers for a variety of reasons, with the primary reason being the lack of a user interface for sellers to observe their auctions and payment status.

Upon logging in to my account today (after clearing my cache for another reason), I had to agree to an updated terms of service, dated December 3,
2015. Once I passed that page, I noticed a new header within my account “List Your Domains on NameJet,” and underneath the header, there is a message that says “Apply to have your domains listed on NameJet’s exclusive auction platform.”

According to NameJet General Manager Jonathan Tenenbaum,

Domain Masters Radio Show Relaunches Tonight

The Domain Masters radio show on Webmaster Radio is set to relaunch this evening at 5pm (Eastern timezone). Hosting the show will be NameJet Marketing Manager Scott Pruitt and NameJet General Manager Jonathan Tenenbaum.

Domain Masters was initially created  in December of 2004, and its broadcasts have featured some of the most successful domain investors and domain industry experts like John Berryhill, Richard Lau, Ari Goldberger, Ron Jackson, Mark Ostrovsky, and many others. Monte Cahn, then at Moniker, founded and hosted this weekly radio broadcast. Victor Pitts followed Monte as the host, and Mike Mann hosted Domain Masters  late last year. You can listen to some of the archived shows on the Webmaster Radio website.

Tonight’s broadcast will feature an interview with

NameJet to Extend Bidding on Some Auctions That Ended Today

0

I just received an email from NameJet technical support to inform me that some auctions that ended today are going to be extended an additional 24 hours due to a technical issue. I assume that most participants impacted by this will receive the same email I received, but I am publishing it in the event that isn’t the case.

In total, 50 auctions are being extended by 24 hours. If you were involved in an auction that is being extended,  it will show up in your active auction list. I can’t recall the last time this happened at NameJet.

Here’s the email I received:

FlashCards.com Sells for $250,000 via Sedo

According to a tweet this morning (embedded above), Sedo broker Dave Evanson  has brokered the sale of FlashCards.com for $250,000.  FlashCards.com has been registered under privacy protection at Fabulous since 2009, so I am unable to share information about the buyer or the seller. I will attempt to reach out to the company that owned the name back in 2009 to see if they were the sellers and if they can provide any details.

I reached out to Dave Evanson to see if he could share any additional information about the sale, and he was unable to do so. He  let me know that the buyer is an end user buyer, so I would assume this domain name will be used at some point in the future. As of this morning, the domain name is still parked, but perhaps the usage of the domain name will shed light on who bought it.

$250,000 seems like an excellent price for this domain name. In February of 2009, Ron Jackson

NameJet Auction 20 .Dance Domain Names

Dot DanceNameJet is teaming up with the .Dance Registry to auction 20 premium reserved .Dance domain names. Although I am not into dance or dancing (as my wife can attest), it looks like a few of the best .Dance combos will be up for auction.

In my opinion, the three most relevant .Dance domain names in this auction include:

  • Line.Dance (Never done it)
  • Swing.Dance (Tried it once at Rustler’s Roost when I was a kid)
  • Pole.Dance (Vaguely heard of it)

The minimum bid for each auction is $69, and the auction page says “each of the domains are priced with low reserves and will sell.” You can place your backorder for the domain names at any time, and the auctions will close in a little more than three weeks from now. The renewal prices are reported as “around $60-80, depending the registrar.”

It seems that many (perhaps most) new gTLD domain registries are protecting their top tier domain names and not making them available for people to hand register. This is probably smart on the part of the domain registries, and it makes auctions like these more interesting because domain investors are able to see what values the domain names have in the secondary market.
