Natasa Djukanovic Interview on Thrive Global

Natasa Djukanovic is the Chief Marketing Officer of the .ME registry, a ccTLD extension from the country of Montenegro. As you probably know, .ME has been positioned as a mainstream generic TLD with an alternative meaning to its country code utility, since its domain names became available to register a little over ten years ago.

Thrive Global, an online publication founded by Ariana Huffington, recently published an interview with Natasa, and it is a good read. The interview offers some background about the .ME registry team along with some of its early marketing and promotion strategy. Here’s a brief excerpt of Natasha sharing some background about .ME:

Divyank Turakhia Subject of BBC Documentary

The BBC will be airing a documentary about Divyank Turakhia, the self-made billionaire who founded a number of companies with his brother Bhavin. Many domain investors know Div through his involvement with Directi and related domain industry companies like Skenzo, Radix, Big Rock, and quite a few others. Div and Bhavin really hit it big with Media.net. Ron Jackson profiled Div a few years ago, and you can read more about Div’s involvement in the domain industry on DNJournal.

Div announced the BBC World News documentary in a public Facebook post earlier today:

Escrow.com Publishes Inaugural Domain Investment Index Report

Early this morning, Escrow.com shared an extensive report “tracking the rate of returns on domain name transactions historically and in the final quarter of 2018.” Dubbed the Escrow.com Domain Investment Index, this report aims to educate the market about the viability of investing in domain names by sharing data from sales transacted via its platform. Today’s report is the inaugural edition of the report, and it appears the plan is to publish it quarterly.

2019 Escrow.com Awards Announced

This afternoon at NamesCon, Escrow.com announced its annual Masters of Domains awards to the ten highest grossing domain brokers from the prior year. The award is based on the dollar volume of brokered transactions closed via Escrow.com. Award winners were presented with a trophy to honor their achievement.

The winners of this year’s Escrow.com awards are:

John Berryhill to Receive 2019 Lonnie Borck Memorial Award

The Internet Commerce Association (ICA) has announced that the winner of the 2019 Lonnie Borck Memorial Award is industry attorney John Berryhill. John is regarded as one of the absolute best domain industry attorneys, and I think he is deserving of the award. In fact, I am quite sure I was not alone when I nominated John to receive this award.

For many years, John has represented and advised domain name owners in UDRPs, litigation, legal disputes, and other matters involving domain names. John’s insight and intelligence is almost always accompanied by his humor and wit (except at 3:45am on day 2 of the Pan-Mass Challenge). In addition to the exemplary legal work he does on behalf of his clients, John has regularly shared his legal advice on domain forums, often to people who might otherwise not be able to afford his legal expertise.

Topcoin Prepping for a Relaunch

Topcoin is something I have received on every paid Uniregistry transaction, but I never used any nor did I really know how to use Topcoin. In December, Uniregistry announced that it would remove Topcoin from its platform. I never made an effort to acquire or use Topcoin, so it wasn’t a big deal to me.
