NamesCon Global Still Planned for January 2021

NamesCon is hosting an online domain industry conference, NamesCon Online, next month. The event will be held from September 9-11, 2020, and tickets to attend are an affordable $59. When I wrote about the NamesCon Auction earlier this week, I was under the impression that this event was taking the place of the NamesCon Global conference held each year in January. I was incorrect.

NamesCon Global is still scheduled to be held in Austin, Texas this coming January. Obviously, this event and its location depends on the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic. We should have an update by the end of September or early October.

A representative from NamesCon shared the following comment with me discussing upcoming NamesCon events:

Missed The Domain Show? Here’s How to Watch for Free

Late last week and into the weekend, I saw people tweeting about The Domain Show, a virtual domain industry conference created by Page Howe. The conference was free to attend and was held Thursday through Saturday. A whole host of industry participants and experts held sessions throughout the conference.

For those who missed out on attending The Domain Show but who would like to watch any or all of the presentations, DAN.com is offering a promo code for domain investors to watch the videos at no cost.

NamePros member Arif Mirza (aka Ategy), who helped produce the conference, share the following on NamePros last Tuesday:

NamesCon Rebrands Event to NamesCon Online

NamesCon is hosting its annual conference in a virtual format this year due to the global pandemic. When the event was announced, it was originally branded as NamesCon 360°. Lately, the branding has shifted away from the 360, and the event is now officially called NamesCon Online. The event website was also updated to NamesCon.Online. I now know why the event and its website were rebranded – it was related to a sponsorship by Radix, the company that operates the .Online registry.

Here’s what I was told about the name change and sponsorship:

Page Howe’s Virtual Conference: The Domain Show

Page Howe will be running a virtual domain industry conference called The Domain Show from July 23-25, 2020. The schedule outline has been published on the event website, and a partial list of speakers has also been shared by Page. It looks like there are some free tickets still available, although an early bird option is set to expire at the end of the day today.

If you are considering attending virtually, Page posted a video introduction sharing more information about the conference and explaining what he hopes people will be able to take away from attending and participating:

NamesCon 360° Virtual Conference Announced

With the coronavirus pandemic canceling or indefinitely postponing in-person conferences around the world this year, the NamesCon Europe conference scheduled for August in Budapest, Hungary was also postponed. This morning, NamesCon conference organizers announced a new virtual conference that will take place in September. The event is called NamesCon 360°.

2020 NamesCon Europe Postponed – Will be a Virtual Event

It’s probably not going to come as a surprise to anyone, but the NamesCon Europe conference scheduled for August of this year has been postponed due to the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic. I think this is the right decision because people will be apprehensive to travel this Summer, even if they are permitted to do so.

NamesCon organizers are planning to host a virtual event at some point this Summer. In the email announcing the postponement of NamesCon Europe, organizers posted a link to a survey asking for feedback about this virtual conference. I shared my thoughts about a virtual conference already, but since I am probably in the minority on this, I think it would be helpful for others to participate in the survey and help shape the virtual event.

In addition to this update on NamesCon Europe, conference organizers said they are still planning for NamesCon Global 2021.

Here’s the email that was sent by conference organizers this morning, along with a survey link:
