I was looking through the names available to bid on at DropCatch.com when something caught my attention. In addition to seeing the “Dropped” and “Private Seller” types of auctions, there are now “Pre-Release” auctions as well.
A quick investigation showed me the source of these domain names. It would appear that HugeDomains is letting some of its inventory expire, and those expiry domain names are coming up for auction on DropCatch. Both HugeDomains and DropCatch have the same parent company – TurnCommerce.
It makes sense that HugeDomains would let its expiry stream flow to DropCatch. Instead of letting names expire and not earning anything, some of their expired domain names will likely be sold via auction instead.
I am not sure how long this has been happening, but it is the first time I recall seeing Pre-Release domain names coming up for auction.
As far as I’m witnessing, they have been dropping many of their domains on a regular basis from the last several years.
That may be true, but I don’t recall seeing Pre-Release names before on DropCatch.
Surprised they didn’t do this sooner to be honest.
How do they know they will be dropped?
It is like a bait and switch…reel in the fish
and the domainers will happily grab these for $$$$ in a hope to turn them into bigger sales. More money and power to Turn Commerce
The new sales slogan: “They didn’t sell for us, but they will for you!”
