GoDaddy Logo Gets an Update

If you visit GoDaddy regularly, you likely noticed a small but relatively major change to the GoDaddy logo. The caricature of a man with orange hair (the GoDaddy Guy as some people have called him) has been removed and the GoDaddy typeface is now green. The .com extension is not shown in the logo either, although that change was made several years ago. From what I can tell, the logo update was made sometime in the last week or so.

The company has been making significant graphic and typeface updates during the last year or so to align with its overall branding update. Regular users have noticed gradual changes throughout the website – from product and service pages to GoDaddy Auctions to the user control panel.

Here’s a look at the evolution of GoDaddy’s header logos over the years since 2005 (the actual logo may have been slightly different than what was shown in the header):

Circa 2005:

I want to give a shout out to two NamePros users who also notice and mentioned this change – Premiums in this thread and MapleDots in this thread.

  1. Still the worst brand in the industry…
Mystery how they ever got so big with that mess of a logo and brand name. Complete fail from a marketing standpoint.

    • Can’t confirm that.
Won a couple of domains in expired GD auctions. They charged my credit card with the amount plus some tax that was not nearer defined on the invoice (l’m located in Europe). Wrote a couple of emails, got an answer 48h later, saying it’s a regular local tax.. I asked which “local tax” exactly. Never heard from them again. Called their support, they told me someone would give me a call back.. Never got that call. So GD charges an extra 10% on every auction you win and is declaring it a “local tax” but no one can tell me which tax exactly. Never happened with Namejet, never happened with Dropcatch. Very very bad, and probably also illegal.

  2. Uniregistry, I get answers from the support within hours, regular call backs, even emails on the weekend.
    Complete different experience.

  3. Great customer service!.. Great products!.. Just don’t get me started on the domain valuations..As a bonus they sponsor Danica, one of the best woman athletes of our time.

  4. Don’t really care too much about the logo
