DataCenter.com Sold for $352,500

As I mentioned a few days ago, Sedo’s Great Domains held its May auction, which ended this afternoon. DataCenter.com was acquired for $352,500. The bidding for this domain name went on for quite some time after the auction was scheduled to end. The reserve price range was $25,000 – $49,999.

The domain name was placed for sale by Next Navigation Pty Ltd, a domain investment company that owns a very nice portfolio of descriptive domain names.

Based on the final sales price, my guess is that an end user acquired this name. I will post an update in a few days once payment is made and the domain name is transferred, assuming the Whois data is public. Congrats to the seller and Sedo on a nice sale.

Great Domains May Auction

Sedo is in the midst of its Great Domains auction for May, and there are some pretty good domain names at reasonable reserve prices. The auction ends in three days (Thursday, May 26) and there are many domain names that already have bids.

Below is a list of my ten favorite domain names up for auction:

SedoSedo domain broker Ryan Colby just listed a number of exclusive domain names for sale, and the portfolio is pretty stunning. This is not the full list of names, but listed below are quite a few of the names. I believe most (if not all) are each worth 6 figures or more, and I don’t recall seeing any of these domain names listed for sale recently.

Sedo Sells Nearly $700k in .com Domain Names Last Week

SedoSedo sold nearly $700,000 worth of .com domain names last week (public sales over $1,000 only included in this report). Leading the way was a Spanish domain name which sold for $90,000 – JuegosDeCocina.com, which means “cooking games.” Another nice sale was ESE.com, which sold for $85,000.

All in all, it was a pretty strong week, especially since there weren’t any public blockbuster sales to report. As always, there are certainly some head scratching sales results, but it shows that it pays to list your names for sale on sites like Sedo.

Dynadot Announces Partnership With Sedo & $6.99 Domain Transfers

Dynadot has become the latest domain registrar to link up with Sedo and become a part of the company’s SedoMLS program. There are now 57 program partners, including Name.com, 1&1, Moniker, Register.com, and many others. To celebrate the news, Dynadot is offering a special price on domain transfers -$6.99 for .com domain names and $5.99 for .net domain names.

Some advantages of the SedoMLS platform include instant domain transfer among partners, ability to list a wide range of ccTLD domain names, and payment within one business day.

For those who are active sellers on Sedo’s marketplace, there’s an advantage to listing your names with SedoMLS as well. According to the FAQ page, the “standard commission for domains listed in the SedoMLS network is 20%.   However, if you add your domain to SedoMLS and it sells on Sedo’s standard marketplace, you pay only 10% commission.”

It’s good to see the expansion of sales venues, and having your registrar linked up with SedoMLS gives you more opportunities to passively sell your domain names. I personally haven’t tried listing names on SedoMLS, but in reading more about it, I probably should get on that ASAP.

Sedo Gets Quotes.com Under Exclusive Contract

I received an email from Sedo broker Dave Evanson this afternoon announcing that Quotes.com has been placed under an exclusive brokerage agreement with Sedo. Although a purchase price is not being publicized (if one has even been set), the owner is asking for seven figure offers.

Quotes.com is a great name, and although it could possibly be used by someone wanting to post famous quotes, I think the more obvious usage would be for stock quotes.  According to the Google Adwords Keyword Tool, there are 83 million broad match monthly searches for the term “quotes,” and there are 2.24 million exact match global searches a month for the term.

Quotes.com had been previously listed as sold in the DomainFest New York auction for $1,100,000, according to DNN. Apparently the sale never materialized as there did not seem to be a change in registrant before and after the auction.

Congrats to Sedo on locking up this great domain name, and I wish them luck selling it.
