Escrow.com Announces Escrow Fee Change

Escrow.com emailed its customers today to announce a change to its fees. The fee change will be implemented on Friday, May 31, 2024. The price change will take effect at a later date for customers using APIs to create transactions.

It looks like lower priced deals will see a slight decrease in fees, but the fee will increase on higher priced deals. The new and old fee schedules are posted below, but here are two examples of how the fee change will impact deals.

Diddy’s SeanJohn.com Domain Name Expires

I was looking at a list of domain names coming up for auction soon on NameJet, and I noticed a domain name that sounded familiar. According to its Network Solutions landing page, SeanJohn.com expired. Strangely, the messaging on the landing page says the domain name expired on May 11, 2021.

Candidate Gets Flack for Old Domain Investments

When I read about domain names being involved in a political campaign, it is usually because one candidate bought a domain name related to an opponent. Sometimes it is because a campaign registered or acquired a provocative or creative domain name – like KeepAmericaGreat.com or Bidenomics.com.

That’s not the case in Tarrant County, Texas. A candidate running for the Texas House of Representatives is getting flack for some domain names he bought as investments, according to a report from the Dallas-Ft. Worth NBC affiliate. Apparently, the candidate owned some adult-related domain names more than 10 years ago, and he is being called out by his opponent.

Here’s what the NBC affiliate wrote:

Using AI For Background Image

I acquired a domain name last week, and once it transferred to GoDaddy, I set up a custom landing page using Carrd. Instead of buying a stock photo for its background image, I decided to test an AI image generator to save some money.

In my paid Chat GPT account, I searched for an image generator tool. I found the image generator tool created by Naif J. Alotaibi and gave it a whirl. Since the domain name is a French woman’s name in .com, this was the prompt that I used: “Create a realistic image of a woman in Paris looking out at the Eiffel Tower.” I made one additional tweak to ensure the woman was looking at the Eiffel Tower, and here’s the image that was created:

I shared some of my own insights that were published in the report. In particular, I discussed the potential for artificial intelligence to impact domain investing.
