Why I Am Going to NamesCon

I’ve been unsure about whether or not I would be able to make it to NamesCon. My wife and I have quite a bit of travel planned, and I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to get away to Las Vegas in January.

After meeting up with Braden Pollock and Steve Kaziyev (and their significant others) in New York City last month, my wife was convinced that I should go, and she convinced me that she would be fine at home with our toddler (now 20 months old) and our dog. Because of the travel we have planned, she can’t get away from work this time to go to Las Vegas, but she’ll be with me in June for Traffic. I don’t love traveling without her, but she knows the importance of NamesCon.

I booked my trip yesterday afternoon, and I am excited about the event. I think this is going to be the first conference I am attending that the all-in cost is less than $1,000 (not including blackjack, drinks, and food expenses). My guess is there will be 400-500 people in attendance, and I know it is going to be a very good crowd. The event is also coming at an important time for our industry, and I think we will get some indication of how the new gTLDs are selling now that people actually need to pay for some pre-reservations.

Now that my trip is confirmed, please let me know if you’d like to meet up to say hello. I am sure there are going to be many new faces at this event, and it will be great to say hello to some people who I’ve only spoken with in the comment section of this blog or via email.

  1. Gotta wait and see DomainIncite.com ‘s free tickets. If I don’t get to visit, have a wonderful time. My best wishes to you and Braden Pollock. It was nice meeting both of you in life at your domainer meet at Boston this June 25th 2013.

  2. Elliot,

Names Con, Has anyone ever considered the subliminal message this sends out to the Smart Money? Lets see Names is easy and Con is easy, Con connotates a Con job, Yes? I realize you are under pressure to deliver for your sponsors, but what about the people who will be mislead by this pumped up .COM knock off promotion ?

    • First off, NamesCon is NOT a sponsor of my blog nor is NamesCon advertising.

Secondly, there are several other “Con” conferences. One such conference is LeadsCon, which is very popular and many domain investors attend it.

Finally, I have no idea what you mean by “pumped up .COM knock off promotion.” I don’t know what you mean half the time when you post anything, but I invite you to explain what you mean here.

    • ” I don’t know what you mean half the time when you post anything”

Thank you for saying what so many of us think whenever we read one of these ridiculous posts.

  3. I realize you don’t know half the time what I post as you are under the spell of disinformation pedaled to you by people outside the know. Ignorance of the facts and feigning ignorance does not absolve you from misleading your flock with big money propoganda supporting agendas that support their end game objectives.
