Since I work from home, I can easily go two or three days without shaving. My wife doesn’t exactly love it when I’ve got too much scruff, but there’s less incentive to shave, although I love a good shave.
The Art of Shaving is a high end shaving store that offers expensive shaving tools and great, professional shaves. When I’ve needed a good shave for a special event, I’ve gone to The Art of Shaving.
Because the company is called The Art of Shaving, it uses TheArtOfShaving.com for its website. This domain name was registered back in 1999. The company also smartly owns (well, owned) ArtOfShaving.com, and Compete stats show that the domain name receives somewhere around 2,000 visits a month, all of which were forwarded to the company website.
Unfortunately for the company, someone dropped the ball, and ArtOfShaving.com expired on February 11, 2011 and it doesn’t appear to have been renewed yet. The primary beneficiary of this is Network Solutions, which appears to be monetizing the domain name with PPC links.
Hopefully The Art of Shaving will renew its domain name in time.
Well, now it’s almost impossible for anyone who has read this to buy the domain in the drop in good faith.
If someone could think they could buy it in good faith before they read this, I am sure they could come up with a reason after.
Chalk this one up to a corporate giant not knowing what it owns – The Art of Shaving was bought by Gillette, which is owned by Proctor and Gamble.
ArtofShaving.com should be owned and used by either Google or Bing as they are the supreme masters of PPC shaving. 🙁
Thanks E, Ill hold bidding at $2k lol
IMO, it’s inevitable it would get renewed by the company.
I suspect youre right E, I was just playin, havent bought a drop in years. I buy before 🙂
Well its now registered till 2012.
The whois shows as they are still Pending Renewal or Deletion
But, i can still access their website here.
I emailed the guys at the company and informed them about the potential loss. they even said they would send me free product… hehe, pretty cool eh.
