There’s Always Time to Hit Your Goal

For the first few years of full-time domain investing, I set an annual revenue and profit goal for my business. I then broke this goal down into smaller monthly goals to give myself a target for each month. I hated this and stopped setting monthly profit goals for myself a while ago.

With a relatively small domain name portfolio, closing deals is never consistent. Large portfolio holders can usually model out how many sales they will hit each month, but that’s not something I can do with any consistency. As a result, setting monthly income goals was a recipe for disaster for me. It would either cause me to rest easy or try too hard to hit a number that was of no consequence.

I Removed MO for Names >$2k + Added Short Term LTO

2

This morning, I removed the Make Offer option for the 1,100 +/- domain names I have listed for sale on Dan.com at under $2,000. To be more precise, all of these domain names have a BIN price of $1,999. I still have a handful of less valuable names without prices and a $997 minimum Make Offer option in place.

In addition to this portfolio change, I also added back the Lease to Own option I had removed over the Summer. However, instead of the default 20 months for a $2k name, I am only offering people the option to lease to own a domain name for a 6 month maximum term.

Namecheap Market: New Bidders to Pre-fund Accounts with $100

1

Namecheap is taking an additional step to help prevent abuse in its Namecheap Market. New users who wish to bid on auctions in the Namecheap Market will be required to pre-fund their accounts with $100. This requirement is an effort to authenticate auction participants to combat auction fraud. Most current users won’t be impacted by this change.

Here’s what Namecheap shared with customers about this policy change:

PFA.com Sold via Apex Moon and Afternic for $450,000

Yesterday morning, Apex Moon announced the $450,000 sale of PFA.com. I reached out to the company seeking additional information, and I was told the deal was negotiated between Apex Moon and Afternic.

By the looks of it, the buyer has already launched its website on PFA.com.

KHY.com Acquired by Kylie Jenner

Yesterday afternoon, fashion model Kylie Jenner tweeted about KHY.com, a domain name she is now using for a fashion brand and clothing line.

From what I can tell using the DomainTools Whois History Tool, KHY.com transferred from GoDaddy to Safenames in September, where it is now registered under Whois privacy. Due to Whois privacy on the registrant Whois record at GoDaddy, I am unable to see who sold KHY.com. According to Jack from DN.com, the seller of KHY.com is a Chinese domain investor:

RDNH Finding on Playhouse.com UDRP

A UDRP was filed against the generic one word Playhouse.com domain name at the World Intellectual Property Organization. The sole panelist, Robert A. Badgley, found in favor of the domain registrant and also ruled that this was Reverse Domain Name Hijacking (RDNH). The decision was published this morning on the WIPO website. Zak Muscovitch represented the domain registrant.

In the decision, the domain registrant’s sworn statement about acquiring domain names as investments was published:
