RedFig.com UDRP is a Nice Win for Investor

4

A UDRP was filed against the RedFig.com domain name at the National Arbitration Forum (NAF). The complainant in the UDRP is a company called Redfig LLC, and the respondent is a domain investor who was represented by attorney John Berryhill. The decision was published this morning, and the registrant prevailed and will retain the domain name.

In its argument, the complainant tried to convince the panel the domain name was being used in bad faith because it was listed for sale for more than the registration cost of a domain name:

“Respondent registered and uses the domain name in bad faith. The Domain Name is listed for sale on a third-party site for a sum which is well in excess of the cost of purchasing a domain name from a registrar.”

That didn’t fly with the panel.

WooCommerce Now Known As Woo

1

Nearly two and a half years ago, WooCommerce acquired the Woo.com domain name for an undisclosed price. Since that time, the company has continued operating under the WooCommerce brand, and the shorter Woo.com domain name has been used as a forwarder. WooCommerce is owned by Automattic, the company that operates the WordPress platform.

As of yesterday, WooCommerce is now known more simply as Woo. The company introduced its truncated branding, updated logo, and new domain name in a blog post. Here’s what the company shared about its decision to officially rebrand as Woo:

High Profile Domain Names Get Stand with Israel Logo

I came across a domain name yesterday afternoon, and a change to its prior landing page caught my attention. It looks like domain names utilizing the MarkUpgrade domain brokerage landing page have added a Stand with Israel logo along with a link to the American Friends of Magen David Adom website. Magen David Adom is Israel’s national emergency medical, disaster, ambulance and blood bank service.

I think this is notable because of the extensive reach of the domain names utilizing the MarkUpgrade landing page. For instance, ten high profile domain names that I found that use this landing page include:

Brooklyn.org Acquired for $49k for Brooklyn Org Rebrand

3

The New York Times published an article about a non-profit organization formerly known as The Brooklyn Community Foundation that acquired the Brooklyn.org domain name for $49,000 and rebranded itself. The new name of the organization is Brooklyn Org, matching is domain name. The NYT article can be read with a digital subscription.

Using the Whois History tool at DomainTools, it looks like the domain name was acquired in May of 2022 – likely around May 20th. The prior archived Whois record from May 12th shows the domain name was registered privately at the domain registrar formerly known as Uniregistry. Based on a few factors I can see, I am pretty certain the domain name had been owned by a domain investor prior to the acquisition.

Can You Get to the End of Endless.Horse

2

I saw something amusing that Twitter highlighted for me today that I want to share because of its domain name relevance. This has probably gone around before, but I don’t remember hearing anything about it.

If you visit Endless.Horse, which may be the only .horse domain name I have ever visited, you will see a nearly endless horse. If you can scroll to the bottom of the page, you’ll find a surprise.

Here’s a video of someone scrolling to the end of Endless.horse for those without the patience.
