This morning in my DomainTools Domain Monitor alert email, I saw that Text.com transferred from Namecheap to GoDaddy under Whois privacy. Text.com had been owned by Brent Oxley, and while he confirmed the sale, he could not comment further. There’s a brand new website on Text.com, but the Whois record and landing page didn’t shed much light onto who acquired the domain name.
Shortly after mentioning the sale on Twitter, I saw that the Investor Relations Twitter account of LiveChat tweeted about Text.com:
We believe text-based communication is the most efficient way to bring businesses and customers together. It’s timeless, empowering, and global. It’s the best way to communicate in an online world.https://t.co/r5MGXNEQ0j pic.twitter.com/RTme5lzxj7

I followed-up my tweet with a tweet directly to LiveChat CEO Mariusz Cieply. I asked if the company plans to rebrand as Text.com, since the link in his Twitter bio now shows Text.com. He confirmed that is going to happen:
Yes, we need a new name. It looks like Text, Inc will be a perfect fit for us 👋

It would appear the company is going to simply rebrand as Text, Inc. rather than Text.com. Either way, it’s a nice and broad brand.
Incredible rebrand!
Great spot, Elliot. The company is no stranger to a premium domain. It owns LiveChat.com, HelpDesk.com, and purchased Knowledgebase.com for $90,000 earlier this year.
