Pinky Brand wrote an article geared towards American readers covering the upcoming Global Domain Summit. The China-based domain industry conference will take place in Xiamen, China from July 7-9.
If you are thinking about attending, you should definitely read Pinky’s article. You should also have a look at the video Pinky created (embedded below) after last year’s inaugural Global Domain Summit conference. It seems like the conference was well attended.
The conference website appears to only have Chinese text, so Pinky’s article is probably the best way to learn about the conference at this point. Hopefully conference organizers will add an English translation for the website. On the bottom of the home page, it shows some of the (invited but not necessarily confirmed) conference attendees, and there are some familiar faces. Among them are Frank Schilling (Uniregistry), Jeff Eckhaus (Rightside), Booksir, Sandeep Ramchandani (Radix), Kevin Kopas (PIR), Toby Hall (MMX), Jonathan Tenenbaum (NameJet), Colin Campbell (.Club), and George Hong (Guta.com). I spoke with one of these people on the phone yesterday and he said that he has not confirmed his attendance this year.
The Chinese domain name market is fascinating to me, and it is interesting to observe auction results and sales for domain names favored by Chinese domain name investors. It would be interesting to note how this year’s conference differs from last year’s event.
