Final Acquisition of 2011…

As the final hours of 2011 were ticking away, I was busy finalizing a deal I had been working on for around 6 months. I was able to acquire the domain name,, just as the year concluded. In fact, cleared my payment 15 minutes later than the company said it was closing (I appreciate that).

I really like It has a pretty large exact match search volume (135,000) and the broad match is huge (over 9 million monthly searches). I think this would make a great venue for people to post famous and popular sayings, which can be enhanced by comments and historical information about the sayings.

I don’t plan on developing the domain name, but I do plan on seeking out a buyer sometime soon. That said, it’s one of those types of domain names that can be pretty easily built and visitors can help add the content.

What was your final purchase in 2011?

  1. My last purchase (if you are including drops) of 2011 was in a Snapnames grab to complement my and domains… all part of my business model preparing for a post-Embargo, post-Castro Cuba 🙂

  2. is my LAST purchase in 2011, and my last new registration, period!

    Congrats on the purchase of Sounds like you bought it from or through Francois.

  3. @Adi

    I had been researching a little before acquiring it and it’s a beautiful country with one of the world’s highest tourism growth rate, you should be proud of it 🙂

    No, not looking to sell for now.

  4. My last acquisition was an IDN:

    תלאביב.com = in Hebrew

    Tel Aviv has over 400,000 population in 20 square miles, and a huge beach and tourism destination with over 2.7 million visitors/year. It has the second largest economy in the middle-east, is one of the 20 most expensive cities in the world, and is one of the 10 most technically advanced cities in the world (known as the Silicon Valley of the region).

    IDNs will provide an enormous opportunity once IDN.IDN is finalized and begins being adopted in local mainstreams which is a forgone conclusion.
