Father’s Day Sunday Thoughts & Updates

We celebrate Father’s Day here in the US. I will be celebrating by hosting a BBQ with my Dad and my kids. I am going to start out the day with a 50+/- bike ride. I am ramping up the distance in my PMC training. I now ride Saturday and Sunday and will continue to increase the distance until mid-July. If you’re in the Boston MetroWest area and want to go for a 50+ mile ride on a Saturday or Sunday morning (somewhere between 15-16mph), let me know.

Here are some thoughts and updates for the week. You are welcome to share your own in the comment section:

GoDaddy shared an interesting article on its blog about how it helped Carter Wilkerson and his #NuggsForCarter campaign. When I saw the company tweeting about it as it happened, I thought it would be a nice PR win for them.

It was nice to see a mainstream business publication (CNBC) write about Snap Inc.’s failed attempt to use the UDRP process to try and get the Geofilters.com domain name. Snap lost, and unless they file a lawsuit (which I can’t see them winning if they didn’t even win the UDRP) it is likely that they will be able to get the domain name unless they reach a deal to buy it from the owner.

I am curious if those of you who are active in the cryptocurrency market are active traders or passive holders with a long term view. Are you able to be both? What are your favorite trading platforms?

I think the expiring / pending delete spammers are making people more wary about unsolicited emails about domain names, even when sellers are reaching out regarding high value domain names.

It’s always funny to see the wide range of valuation thoughts when a domain name sells. Some people think the price was very high while others say the price was way too low.

I closed a win/win deal for a domain name I won on NameJet that the former owner didn’t renew. The name was not expensive and didn’t have special meaning to me. It did mean a great deal to the former owner whose business used the name. He was very nice throughout (ie didn’t demand the name back), so I ended up agreeing to sell the domain name for a small profit + a donation to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. I didn’t have to do this, but we were both happy.

Thanks to the staff at NamePros for mentioning the Pan-Mass Challenge ride that John Berryhill and I are doing. The support is greatly appreciated!

  1. Happy Fathers Day Elliot!
Loved hearing what you did with that win/win deal for expired domain name!

I am a holder in Crypto Currency for the long haul and do a very, very “little” bit of trading 🙂 I love everything about the Blockchain and am part of a community/”investor” (I own some SWT tokens) in a Decentralized ERC20 community 🙂

Also invest what you can afford to lose and research like crazy!!!!!!
