According to a DNJournal source, the GeoDomain Expo, put on annually by Associated Cities, will be canceled. This is disappointing, but its understandable given the difficult market conditions. I’ve been debating internally whether to make the cross-country trip, as it’s close to Burbank but it’s probably a bit too far to do both.
Once I receive official confirmation about the cancellation, I will let you know, but generally Ron is on point with this type of information.
That is sad to hear. We were passing on other conventions just to go to this one.
Maybe an online seminar. I missed the Aussie T.R.A.F.F.I.C. convention simply because of cost. $2000 a ticket was too steep and if these prices continue for conventions then you can guarantee numbers will be down. Surely there can be a more affordable way to get together without all the expensive hype and marketing companies with their hand out to provide venues for domainers to network.
I was going to go only because it was in my hometown of San Diego.
I used to go to many domain conferences but I think I will just now attend 1 a year (most likely domainfest).
The market is now too saturated with Domain Conferences and many are too expensive for the average domainer to attend. They are great places to go and meet people and party though.
Thanks, Jim
I already bought a plane ticket after being assured by the associated cities people that the show was going to happen.
great.
@Gordon – I still haven’t received confirmation yet.
As a fellow member of AC, it’s a shame we would have to hear about it second hand (third hand?) … if it is true. After being at the last two GEO shows I can say they were among the best domain/development shows I have ever attended. Damn shame!
PS … I doubt the economy has much to do with it.
@Shaun – I still have not received confirmation of this.
