CentralNic Job: Head of Sales, Resell Division

CentralNic plc, a publicly traded company, posted a job listing on LinkedIn three days ago, and it might be of interest to someone with experience and expertise in the domain industry. CentralNic is looking to hire a Head of Sales in its Resell Division. The full time job will either be based out of the company’s London, England office or its St. Ingbert, Germany office, and working from home is an option.

Here’s the description of the Head of Sales role:

“Reporting to the Head of the Reseller Division, the Head of Sales will be responsible for contributing and executing the strategy for acquiring new business for the division as well as growing revenue from existing clientele. This includes the increasing of sales for gTLDs and ccTLDs, aftermarket domain services, SSL Certificates, PremiumDNS Services and an array of new and existing internet services, all to be sold through the reseller channel. Work on RFP bids where appropriate may be necessary.

The Head of Sales will also be responsible for driving sales for newly launched products, working closely in conjunction with Product Management and Marketing teams.”

While the company requests that applicants have “Knowledge of the domain name industry,” I do not know if how extensive their knowledge has to be in order to be hired. I would imagine a role like this could be filled by someone who has business development and sales expertise with some background knowledge about the domain industry. In fact, I think it would be easier to learn about the domain name space than it would be to learn how to be good at sales.

While the job was just posted on LinkedIn three days ago, there are already 75 applicants. For someone with sales and business development expertise and domain industry experience, this job seems like a great opportunity.
