Election.com Sells at NameJet for $65,100

7

The auction for Election.com on NameJet ended this afternoon, and after quite a long extended auction, the domain name sold for $65,100. There were 448 bids from 323 bidders in this public auction. The winning bidder has a NameJet nickname of abcjk.

There were seven bidders who had bids of $40,000 or higher. Four of those bidders placed bids of $50,000 or higher. Back in March, Election.com was being brokered by Domain Holdings, although I don’t see an asking price in the newsletter I received announcing the listing. The domain name is currently registered to New Ventures Services Corp.

Once payment is confirmed by NameJet and the domain name changes hands, I’ll post an update to this article.

Lowballer.com in Auction at NameJet

2

As Shane mentioned yesterday, Lowballer.com is currently up for auction at NameJet. There are 62 active bidders for this great domain name, which is surprisingly low considering how many people there are out there who would make good use of this domain name because of their lowballing nature (kidding).

If I win the auction, I think it would be funny to set up an email address and use it to inquire about domain names to purchase privately. It would also be pretty funny to set up email addresses like domain.shane@lowballer.com and send out offers “I’ll give you $500 USD for your 3 number .com domain name! I can close immediately using Escrow.com!” Alternatively, someone could set up a lowballer directory on Lowballer.com, or perhaps even an adult website.

Kidding aside, I think it’s a pretty funny brand name, and we’ll see what others think based on the final sale price.

Media Options Running Private Auction at NameJet

NameJet is hosting another notable domain auction on behalf of a domain investment company. Andrew Rosner’s Media Options, best known for its domain brokerage services, has listed quite a few valuable domain names up for auction at NameJet. The auctions will begin closing between two weeks and a little over a month from now.

I saw the banner on NameJet’s website, and I asked Andrew if he could share some details about the auction. According to him, about 30% of the inventory is listed at no reserve, and “all are priced VERY aggressively,  many at below what we paid” in order to induce competitive bidding.

I looked through the list of names that are currently loaded on NameJet, and it appears that some of the better inventory has

What Does SnapNames Acquisition Mean for Domain Investors?

On Friday evening, I reported that two Web.com employees tweeted that Web.com had acquired SnapNames, a once thriving domain auction platform. SnapNames may still be thriving, but truthfully, I have not participated or followed very many auctions on the platform in a few years. This morning, Web.com officially announced the acquisition in a press release, although terms of the deal were not disclosed.

From my perspective, in the last few years, SnapNames became more well known for its private domain auctions rather than its expiring domain auctions. I remember when SnapNames reported “bonkers” sales numbers for expiring domain names. The numbers may say otherwise, but that’s what it seems like to me anyway. When thinking about expiring domain auction houses though, I still consider NameJet, SnapNames, and GoDaddy to be the “big three,” again keeping in mind that I almost exclusively use NameJet these days.

For a while now, SnapNames has maintained one of the

Yad.com: Clever Graphic from NameJet

NameJet sent out a clever tweet today marketing the auction of the Yad.com domain name. The graphic above shows a hand pointing to the domain name.

To most people who saw the tweet, this is probably more of an innocuous graphic than anything. To someone who knows Hebrew, it’s pretty clever. In Hebrew, the word “yad” means hand. In addition, a “yad” is a pointer that is used when a person is reading the torah (Torah.com). You can click here to see what a yad looks like if you’d like.

The auction is

AnimalRescue.com Sells for $20,400 at NameJet

AnimalRescue.com was sold in a private auction on NameJet today, and the sale price was $20,400. There were 282 bids from 247 bidders in the auction. The auction was one of the FindYourDomain.com private auctions.

Interestingly, according to the September 28, 2009 – October 11, 2009 DNJournal sales report, AnimalRescue.com had previously sold on NameJet for $6,899 in April of 2009. I looked back in my NameJet bidding history, and unfortunately, I do not have that auction listed. Based on the September 26, 2009 Whois record that lists
