Vote: Will You Attend DomainFest?

I received an email from Oversee announcing that the dates for the 2014 DomainFest conference. DomainSponsor, a division of Oversee, will host its annual  DomainFest  conference from March 31 to April 3, 2014, at the Loews Hotel in Hollywood, California. The early bird  registration fee is $695, and it includes all means, parties, and evening parties. The special rate is good through February 14.

For several years, DomainFest had been held at the Fairmont in Santa Monica, California, and this venue change brings the conference back to its original location. I am told this will be the ninth year for DomainFest.

The last conference, called Webfest Global, was held in February of 2013, and a reported 600+ people attended. I was

Asia Pac Digital Marketing & gTLD Strategy Congress

momentum eventsFrom what I understand, the domain market in Asia, particularly in China, is booming. If you are a domain investor located in Asia, or if you have an interest in visiting Hong Kong for a domain conference, I want to share some news about a new conference I just learned about: Asia Pac Digital Marketing & gTLD Strategy Congress.

The primary focus of this new domain conference is the new gTLD domain names. According to the press release distributed by Momentum events, “This new event which combines DotAsia’s “Internet of Names” meeting and Momentum’s “Digital Marketing & gTLD Strategy Congress” is designed to bring together existing and new TLD applicants, brands, domain investors and other industry stakeholders.”

The conference will be held

Do You Want to Attend NamesCon Next Year?

There are two groups of people in the domain industry – those who attended NamesCon this past week in Las Vegas, and those who did not attend for whatever reason.

Obviously those who attended the conference have formed their opinions about the value of attending because they experienced it first hand. Those who weren’t able to attend have to rely on a variety of industry reports from the conference, including one that I shared. Other reports I recommend reading including Ron Jackson’s analysis, Morgan Linton’s article, Donna Mahony’s recap, and Theo’s post. I assume Mike Berkens

I Went to NamesCon!! And Loved it!

First I would like to thank those of you who read the first part of this article and approached me at NamesCon. It’s nice to know that in some little way I helped some enjoy the experience! I met you, I remember you (maybe not by name but you made an impression), I spent at least a little time with you. And I learned some important things about each of you! You read the blogs (shows interest in the industry), you remembered my advice to politely approach people and get to know them! So you study the industry, read advice and execute what matters to you individually..I bet you had a lot of fun. I know I did! Some of us even are on the http://pixt.com/namescon wall together!

To touch a little on a point I made in the first post. I mentioned that you should not approach people with your portfolio in hand..get to know people. It was great..I didn’t meet one portfolio pusher…there were at least a couple of card shovers. Flying through the room doing

NamesCon is a Big Success

In my opinion, the best part about attending a domain conference is having the opportunity to get together with friends and colleagues, and to meet with companies I do business with or want to get to know. With nearly 600 attendees, the inaugural NamesCon conference was packed, and I think it was a big success.

It’s pretty clear that the new gTLDs were a main focus at NamesCon. There were many new faces (to me) in the crowd, and it seemed that many were there specifically to discuss or learn about the new gTLDs. The three track agenda enabled attendees to pick and choose topics of interest to them. I found the topics to be interesting and fairly specific, which was important since there were so many panel sessions. I did not get the feeling that the new TLDs were being “shoved down our throats,” and that was appreciated.

The only keynote speech I

Bill Hartzer’s NamesCon Coverage

If you weren’t able to attend the NamesCon conference this week, I think you may have missed out on a great opportunity. That said, search engine expert Bill Hartzer shared his notes about several of the panels and keynote speakers that he attended, and you can check out his blog to see what his observations and takeaways were from the sessions.

To make it easier for you, I shared links to each of the articles. I am sure Ron Jackson, Morgan Linton, and others will share some insight as well, but Bill’s notes are pretty comprehensive.

Panels and Keynotes discussed by Bill Hartzer:

There may be other posts that I didn’t see, and you can navigate to them by visiting Bill’s blog. I don’t think anyone else had comprehensive write ups of the panels and discussions, so you may benefit from check those articles out, especially if you weren’t able to attend.

I plan to share a bit of a recap and my feedback from NamesCon later on today, I am still playing a bit of catch up from being away for a few days, so I am not sure when the article will be ready to go. In the meantime, check out Bill’s summaries.
