From what I understand, the domain market in Asia, particularly in China, is booming. If you are a domain investor located in Asia, or if you have an interest in visiting Hong Kong for a domain conference, I want to share some news about a new conference I just learned about: Asia Pac Digital Marketing & gTLD Strategy Congress.
The primary focus of this new domain conference is the new gTLD domain names. According to the press release distributed by Momentum events, “This new event which combines DotAsia’s “Internet of Names” meeting and Momentum’s “Digital Marketing & gTLD Strategy Congress” is designed to bring together existing and new TLD applicants, brands, domain investors and other industry stakeholders.”
The conference will be held May 13-14, 2014 at Regus – Hong Kong Central Plaza in Hong Kong. The early registration fee (with all access) is $495 USD before February 15, and it goes up by a couple hundred USD up until the date of the event. At the moment, it looks like the agenda is still being developed, and it does not appear that the list of speakers and panelists has been announced.
I’ve wanted to visit Hong Kong ever since the TRAFFIC conference was originally scheduled for HK a few years ago, but I haven’t had the chance. With a toddler and the Las Vegas TRAFFIC conference happening at the end of May, I highly doubt I will be able to travel to Hong Kong for this domain conference.
If you are involved in the new gTLD business, this is probably a good conference to attend, especially considering the other domain name / Internet related events that are happening in Hong Kong around the same time. I know there are a number of domain brokers and consultants who have clients based in Asia, so this would probably be a good opportunity to travel abroad and meet some of these clients.
When is DOT Asia coming out?
🙂
I wasn’t counting on you getting the ‘sarcasm’…
🙂
Dot Asia Momentum has been building since 2008
🙂
I met the CEO of .Asia a few years ago at an event in New York.
Watch this HK documentary featuring Jackie Chan and enjoy picking up great bargains in HK before heading back to the states. If you like Dim Sum (Yum Cha is the correct term though), HK is the place.
I live in Hong Kong so i will most likely attend. Anyone domainers coming from abroad to attend please feel free to drop me a line and i’m more than happy to show you the cities bustling nightlife and amazing food culture while talking domains over a couple of beers!
