I was sent a link to a LinkedIn video posted by Peter Mahoney, CEO of a company called Plannuh. In the video, Peter shared some thoughts about domain names. I had not heard of Peter prior to being sent the video, but from his LinkedIn profile, I can see he has a considerable amount of marketing experience for a variety of businesses of different sizes. In fact, he was CMO of Nuance Communications, maker of the Dragon speech recognition software, which owns Dragon.com.
Peter has a LinkedIn video series called Ask a Marketing Nerd, and in the most recent episode, he discussed domain names. I don’t completely agree with everything he shared, but I do agree with most of it. Some of the domain names he discussed were Lola.com, Wasabi.com, Facebook.com, and Dragon.com. Mostly, Peter shared his thoughts about the importance of domain names to different types of businesses.
I think it is good to get the perspective of someone like Peter who is not connected to the domain industry but is knowledgeable about domain names and their importance to brands. It is, after all, people in Peter’s position as CEO, board member, and business advisor that help make domain name acquisition decisions.
