Last week, I was working on a deal transacted at Escrow.com, and I reached out to Andee Hill for an update. Shortly after sending my email, I learned that Andee was no longer working at the company. This morning, there was a press release to announce that Andee and Gregg McNair have teamed up to establish an escrow services company called EscrowHill.com.
Whenever I’ve needed something or had an issue at Escrow.com, Andee has always been able to provide assistance. Andee worked at Escrow.com since 1999, most recently as Director of Business Development. Based on the press release I received, it appears the company’s focus will be on domain name escrow transactions.
From the release:
“The domain industry is undergoing incredible change and EscrowHill.com is positioned to provide secure, yet flexible, state of the art products and services. EscrowHill.com will be able to meet the needs of both past and future generations of domain buyers, brokers and sellers. Hill’s reputation as an honest, discreet and hard working professional will now aspire to a new level.”
Andee is certainly experienced in the world of escrow transactions, and she has built a good reputation within this business. In fact, if you visit the EscrowHill.com website, you can see her photo on the homepage.
This is the second new domain name escrow company to have emerged in the last several months. Thought Convergence launched Agreed in September. I wish Andee well with this new venture.
Press release:
AUCKLAND NZ: One aspect of the domain space that bridges the whole industry is that of escrow; and the one person better known than any other in that context is the former Director of Business Development at Escrow.com, Ms. Andee Hill.
Ms. Hill has established the licensed international escrow enterprise, Escrow Hill Limited with the backing of long time friend and industry entrepreneur, Gregg McNair.
“When Andee told me she was thinking about forming her own escrow business I was immediately enthusiastic. I have a reputation of connecting some of the best people in our industry and Andee is at the top both professionally and as an amazing human being,” McNair said.
EscrowHill.com’s dream team includes Ryan Bogue as General Manager and Donald Hendrickson as Operations Manager. Both have worked in the business of online escrow under Hill’s direction for over fifteen years combined. Together with Hill’s experience the new team offers over thirty years of online escrow experience!
The domain industry is undergoing incredible change and EscrowHill.com is positioned to provide secure, yet flexible, state of the art products and services. EscrowHill.com will be able to meet the needs of both past and future generations of domain buyers, brokers and sellers. Hill’s reputation as an honest, discreet and hard working professional will now aspire to a new level.
“During my fifteen years in this business, I have handled just about every aspect of online escrow. Regardless of my title, I have always known that understanding the client’s needs and providing excellent and secure service is invaluable. I have been fortunate to work with the industry innovator from day one. I have seen what works and what doesn’t. I have been even more fortunate to have created great relationships and trust with industry leaders. At EscrowHill.com I know I can do an even better job,” Hill said.
“Gregg has earned a strong reputation for honesty, integrity and for successfully making businesses work. He also has incredible enthusiasm and a heart for helping others. All are key factors in me wanting Gregg to support my endeavor at EscrowHill.com,” Hill continued.
McNair has assumed the non-operational role of Chairman, supporting Hill and her team with whatever it takes to build the best escrow business on the planet.
Marco Rinaudo, Founder and CEO of Internet.bs has been appointed CTO of EscrowHill.com. Rinaudo, who has been a leader in the international hosting and registrar space since 1995, said, “EscrowHill.com is formed and supported by the very best people in the industry. Our team has built the most sophisticated on-line internet escrow platform, fully automated and with more advanced security features than any other.”
When I have nervous buyers, the fact that escrow is established out of CA, USA does help get them to send funds majority of the time. Operating out of NZ, must have some legal
Advantages, I am sure they will have time zone conflicts, which can be averted with 24/7 staff. I guess AU is a good market which can be tapped, but escrow.com still functions ok for us. Only thing this will most likely bring is lower escrow fees which is good for buyers, and sellers.
The competition will no doubt push fees lower which is great for domain buyers and sellers.
No non-compete agreement and starting up on EscrowHill.com VERY much like Escrow.com?
Very strange and what does Gregg McNair have against Escrow.com?
We see a lot of Escrow services for domains and I never felt the need to try any of them, simply because Escrow.com hasn’t given me any reason to. I’ve been using Escrow.com for over 10 years now and not once have I had a issue, other than when the Postal service mailed my $8,000 check to another address, Escrow.com is time tested and I have no problem with their rates, and besides that their local, takes no more than 2 days for my check to arrive.
Needless to say, I’m not changing. If it works why fix it?
Hi Elliot,
They will need deep pockets to compete against the goliath even if its just the domain name market they are after.Unless I missed it, I didn’t notice you express your thoughts regarding the Heritage auction results which you frequently mentioned in your postings pre-auction.
I posted in the comment section.
Thought the results were decent and the format was excellent.
A good first effort.
I’d rather have a discussion in that last thread than in this unrelated article though.
I’m wondering if their company name has anything to do with Andee Hill being their CEO..
This is a terrible move for all involved …
Why NZ … and not the U.S.? This is an important question they need to publically answer.
Are they properly licensed in all 50 U.S. states, as I believe Escrow.com is? Do they intend to be?
Why would anyone use them? Lower prices — if they’re thinking that’s a worthwhile differentiator — isn’t going to do it.
I wish them all the best but unless my buyer or seller knows of escrowhill, Ill stick with what makes them comfortable.
hard hit on head when seeing an employer (who knows every screw of machine) building his own system ,but in the viewpoint of clients we welcome the coming competitive prices
