Albert Schimmel, Owner and Founder of BuyMyName.com (and formerly of Sedo), shared a comic on LinkedIn that resonated with me. “A domain name is like a joke… if you have to explain it, it’s not that good”
You can see the comic on Albert’s LinkedIn page:
I think it’s very true with limited exceptions. If you are pitching a domain name to a prospective buyer and need to explain what it means, it’s probably not very good. Of course, there’s a difference between explaining what a domain name means and explaining why a domain name can provide value to a business, with the latter making much more sense.
Thanks to Albert for sharing the joke.
Agreed, but what about brandables?
I would imagine most buyers find those on their own rather than a domain registrant pitching them to someone else to buy.
Completely agree…domain names should be expressive and stick to your brain when you first hear it.It rings in your ears.
That’s why everyone knows what “BullS “is..
If you are explaining why they should buy it every word said will lower the value of the name.
