Today is the big day! I am riding in the Pan-Mass Challenge to raise money for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston. Dana-Farber is one of the top cancer research and treatment organizations in the world. The doctors, nurses, researchers, and staff are on the cutting edge of cancer research and provide the best care cancer patients can find anywhere. I do the PMC each year because I know friends and family who have battled cancer. Some have thankfully survived, but others have succumbed to this horrible disease.
As I write this on the eve of the ride, our 2018 fundraising total stands at $12,836! I am greatly appreciative of my domain industry supporters, who are listed here (I will add any subsequent donors once I complete my ride).
My initial fundraising goal for 2018 was $12,000. I later realized that if we raise $12,943 this year, the fundraising total for the past 5 years would hit the $50,000 mark… WOW! Once we hit the $12k mark I decided to raise the bar and try to get to $50k. Perhaps we can still make that happen.
I am expecting scattered thunderstorms for much of the day Saturday. Sunday looks clear right now. The entire weekend will be hot (in the 80s) and humid. The support you guys have given me via email, social media, and even the phone has been awesome and appreciated. I will be thinking about friends and family who have fought cancer and those I don’t know who are fighting.
As I cross the finish line on Sunday, I will be wearing my customized PMC jersey with pride. Thank you all for your support.
