Domainer Mardi Gras on Hiatus for 2011

2

A college friend emailed me on Sunday to see if we could get a group of us to hit up Mardi Gras this year, and I realized that I hadn't received any emails or heard anything about Domainer Mardi Gras this year.

I assumed it might have been cancelled or postponed in light of the heavy load of conferences in the beginning of the year, so I reached out to Michael Ward, Director of Marketing for Parked.com. Sure enough, Domainer Mardi Gras is on hiatus for 2011.

According to Michael, due to the Domain Roundtable conference  "in the Bahamas, along with ICANN SF taking place also in  March, we decided to not host DMG this year." This is a bummer. Last year, I was scheduled to go but got snowed in, and the prior year I also had a conflict.

IMO, it's a smart move to postpone it though, rather than compete with the other conferences. Michael hinted that the show  or a meet up of some sort could happen next year, and it's possible that it might take place during Jazz Fest, another fun annual event in New Orleans. Why You Should Attend a Domain Conference

12

Although networking with other domain investors is high up on the list of reasons to attend a domain conference, in my opinion, there is one primary reason. Attending a domain conference gives you the opportunity to meet your sales representatives and managers for the companies with whom you do your domain business.

Whether your business primarily relies on domain investing, parking, or other monetization, you can meet the people who can help you when you are in need.

For my domain registrations, I primarily register my names with Moniker. No matter who is running the conference or where it is, I almost always see my account manager Bari Meyerson at the shows. Monte Cahn is frequently there as are other Moniker representatives, but it's always good to connect with Bari. I also register some names with Godaddy, and my representative, Brad Larson is frequently in attendance.

The same thing goes for domain parking, although you already know by now that I don't rely on parking for much revenue (under $1,000 per year). However, → Read More

Domainer Mardi Gras Auction List Released

1

banner250x2The live auction list for Aftermarket.com's Domainer Mardi Gras auction has been released, and there seems to be some pretty good values in the list. The auction will be held live and simultaneously online on Saturday, February 21, 2009 at 2:45pm (EST).

Below is the most updated list that I have, and the names I like are bolded.   As a FYI, PortableDrive.com is a domain name I am selling, and I priced the reserve much lower than my clearance price to drive interest.

If you can't make it to the conference, register to bid online ASAP.
