TRAFFIC “Black Friday” Special Offer

I thought I would pass along this special “Black Friday” offer from Rick Schwartz that was sent to people on the TRAFFIC mailing list this afternoon:

Sign up for T.R.A.F.F.I.C. this Friday, Black Friday, and not only does it include 2 or 3 nights at the Bellagio, T.R.A.F.F.I.C. will pick you up at the airport with our Executive Car Service at no extra cost and whisk you right to the hotel’s front door. Just buy your tickets this Friday. One day only. Black Friday!

Are You Going to NamesCon?

NamesCon is coming up in January, and I am still on the fence about going. I think it’s going to be well attended by a wide range of domain investors, and I think the price is exceptional. The only reason I am on the fence is due to a few other trips that are planned for the first three months of 2014 (and not wanting to leave my wife alone with our 20 month old toddler and dog).

Are you planning on attending NamesCon? Vote in the poll below. If you are not planning on attending, I am interested to know what’s keeping you from attending?

If you’d like more information about NamesCon, Richard Lau wrote an article sharing some reasons why he thinks you should consider attending.

Why NamesCon?

NamesConHaven’t domain conferences come and gone? With no sign of DomainFest aka WebFest, and with numerous other domain conference brands having been moth-balled, why would a veteran of the internet name space want to risk so much of his own capital to launch a brand new show? Wouldn’t you have to be crazy to enter this space?

To answer that question, I hope you will indulge me for a few paragraphs. My name is Richard Lau and I am that person….

I’m proud to announce NamesCon Las Vegas 2014 will be held in Las Vegas, Nevada on

Make Your TRAFFIC Appointments Now

I’ve generally been under the assumption that most people who attend a domain conference like TRAFFIC basically wing it when it comes to meetings. Most of my meetings with friends and colleagues are unplanned, and they generally take place randomly during the conference.

In the last week or so, I’ve received a number of emails from colleagues asking to make meeting appointments with them. It’s a good idea to set up meeting times, since I almost always go home realizing that I didn’t get a chance to speak with someone I wanted to see, and had I made an appointment, it would have been more difficult to miss.

If there’s someone you want to meet at TRAFFIC in Ft Lauderdale, don’t

Domainer Tradeshow Canceled

According to a tweet this morning from its Twitter account, the Domainer Tradeshow that was scheduled for October 2-3 at the Mission Point Resort in Mackinac Island, Michigan has been canceled. Apparently, this is due to a lack of reservations and registrations. I have confirmed this with the event organizer, Doug Haan, who issued the following statement:

Thanks to Vin of Vin’s Domains!

photo1One of the nicest things about having a blog in the domain investment space is that I get to meet many people who are also domain investors. Earlier this Summer, I helped organize a meet up at a Red Sox game at Fenway Park, and that gave me the opportunity to meet Vincent Jacques of VinsDomains.com. Vin has commented on my blog and we’ve exchanged emails in the past, but we had never spoken prior to the meet up.

At the Red Sox game, Vin and I talked about domain investing and also about the New England Patriots. Vin’s had tickets for a while, and he promised that at some point we would go to my first Pats game at Gillette Stadium. True to his word, a couple of months later, Vin emailed me offering tickets to the home opener against the Jets.

Vin, his friend Mike (also a domain investor), my brother, and I met up for a great tailgate a couple of hours before the game, and we
