While looking through my DomainTools Whois alert emails (Name Server Monitor and Registrant Monitor) this morning, I noticed the Ton.com domain name appears to have changed hands.
Ton.com has long been owned by Digimedia and registered at Tucows. The domain name transferred to the Cloudflare domain registrar, with much of the Whois record redacted. One of the few things that isn’t redacted is the registrant location of Zug, Switzerland. The Name Servers also use Cloudflare nameservers.
I shared my observation on X:
https://t.co/pCEKLIpMnA may have been sold by Digimedia.
The domain name transferred from Tucows to Cloudflare under Whois privacy, and the nameservers also changed. https://t.co/aDjJN0zD9r does not yet resolve to a website.

The domain name does not resolve to any website at the time of publication.
Some additional research shows the TON Foundation appears to be located in Zug, Switzerland. The organization uses Ton.org for its website. I also shared this observation on X:
The one public aspect of the new https://t.co/aDjJN0zD9r Whois record at @DomainTools is the registrant location of Zug, Switzerland.
Notably, perhaps, the TON Foundation, which uses https://t.co/tEhtP2nkH6, is located in Zug, Switzerland. https://t.co/LsNkgctW6q pic.twitter.com/UTuIKGNZ6X

The Ton.org domain name is registered at Namecheap, and while it has Cloudflare nameservers, they are not the same nameservers as those used by Ton.com. Put simply, I do not know if the TON Foundation or a related entity acquired the Ton.com domain name. There is some circumstantial evidence that leads me to believe this is a possibility, but the new registrant is not known.
Assuming Ton.com was sold, it’s almost certain the acquisition price will not be released per Digimedia policy, unless the new registrant opts to release the price. Whether that happens or not is anyone’s guess, but Ton.com is definitely worth a ton.
If house sales are public records why not domain sales??

If the buyer (or seller) is a public company, then they should be reported in line with the (local) requirements about disclosure.
Beyond that it should be entirely down to the purchaser in my opinion.
No different to you being the _only_ decider about wherther your bar-bill, or shopping purchases or club memberships are shared publicly – people should be entitled to privacy by default.
If I had to guess, they’re going to use it to bridge their .ton domains, i.e: alice.ton will be available as alice.ton.com: https://dns.ton.org/
