Seeking Offers on BikeTour.com & BikeTours.com

0

I recently acquired BikeTour.com and BikeTours.com from two different owners, and I am interested in selling the pair of domain names. I believe BikeTours.com would be a great domain name for a travel website that offers bike tours in cities around the world, and the singular would be a great name for a company or organization that organizes large scale bike tours, such as the 5 Boro Bike Tour.

There are a large number of websites that use “BikeTour” as the keyword domain name. The following tld are all registered: BikeTour.net, BikeTour.org, BikeTour.biz, BikeTour.us, BikeTour.info, BikeTour.fr, BikeTour.asia, BikeTour.me, BikeTour.mobi, BikeTour.co.uk, BikeTour.co.il, BikeTour.ru…etc. This of course does not include domain names like 5BoroBikeTour.com or others that have BikeTour in them. Similarly, there are a number of domain names with BikeTours in them

If you are interested in making an offer, please send me an email or post a comment with your offer, which I likely will not publish for privacy reasons. If you just want to write a comment about the pair of domain names, please don’t as I would like to keep it strictly a sales thread instead of a discussion thread.

Just for a bit of background on the offer status, I’ve already turned down $4,000 and the offer would need to be significantly more. I don’t plan to break up the pair.

Going to Cheer on Domain Shane

Domain ShaneIt’s not often that I’m in New England for Patriots Day, but it’s a lot of fun. Not only is it a holiday in Massachusetts (friends have the day off from work), but the Red Sox play an 11:30am matinee, and of course, the Boston Marathon is run.

I read that Shane Cultra is running in the Boston Marathon today, and Karen and I are going to  Wellesley, Massachusetts (the half way point) to cheer him on.

Karen ran the New York City marathon last November, and I know how much of a personal challenge it is to run a marathon. I can’t even run 5 miles right now without a day off in between miles 4 and 5. Hope he makes his goal!

Stats for the 1 Millionth Visitor

My blog hit 1,000,000 visits this evening, as I projected in a post this morning.  Thanks to all for the good wishes. Here are some stats for the one millionth visitor to my blog:

Yext Tags to Rebrand on an $1,800 Domain Name Purchased from BuyDomains

YextI learned a couple of things when reading TechCrunch yesterday. First, there’s a company called Yext that helps small businesses add and enhance (tag) listings across a wide variety of popular websites like Yelp, Yahoo, CitySearch, YellowBook, and several others. It’s a pretty cool service that I didn’t know existed.

In the same article, I learned that the company is rebranding its Yext Tags product name tomorrow, and it will be called PowerListings.  The PowerListings.com domain name rang a bell, and I did a bit of research, where I confirmed that BuyDomains recently sold PowerListings.com for $1,800. It was included in the April 5th Afternic sales report.

This is one of those times where you wonder if having a listing price may have hurt the company. Had the domain name been unpriced, perhaps it could have resulted in a higher price, assuming Yext had settled on the branding. The other side of the argument is that the company may have had a list of domain names available at a certain price level, and this was the best of the bunch. Who knows.

Anyway, if you have a local website, you should certainly check out Yext Tags / PowerListings when you have a chance. It can be a powerful marketing tool.

1,000,000 Unique Visitors

You know those websites that have flashing banners announcing that you are the 1 millionth visitor and you just won a prize?  You just have to answer a bunch of survey questions, leave your email address, provide your bank information, and promise your first born child, and you’ll get you iPad 2 delivered in 6-8 weeks.

Well, that’s not happening here. At some point today, the 1,000,000th unique visitor to my blog will arrive. There won’t be any blinking banners or audio to announce the 1 millionth visitor, but there is this blog post to signify the achievement.

Since I won’t really be able to track who that millionth visitor is, I want to say thank you for being a part of this special day. It’s quite an effort to blog every day and respond to as many questions/comments as possible, but I still enjoy doing it. It’s been great getting to know you, and I appreciate your time.

Here’s to another million uniques!

Saturday Updates

13

On the road again today, so if your comment doesn’t get posted immediately, it will likely be posted later on this afternoon. Here are a few updates today.

  • Speaking about that indictment, what do you think the UB.com domain name is worth? Wonder how quickly it will be before someone tries to buy it!
  • I was biking in Central Park, and I saw a biker get pulled over by a police officer for going through a red light (there’s been a crackdown to avoid injuries). The police officer asked the biker his profession, to which the biker responded that he was a cardiologist. The police officer let him off with a warning telling him the City can’t afford to lose a cardiologist to a bike accident. I couldn’t help but imagine that if it was me, he would have given me the $270 ticket and told me to keep running red lights!
  • I noticed that Snowboards.CO was purchased by the owner of Skis.com for $7,500 last week on Sedo. I am interested in seeing how it’s developed and how it ranks in Google and Bing after a few months. This sale may seem anomalous now, but if the owner can build a business on the domain name, sales like this may become more commonplace down the road . I still have a long term positive outlook for the extension, although I still haven’t invested much.
