SX.com Up for Auction on NameJet

One of the most valuable domain names to hit the auction block on NameJet is coming up for sale. SX.com is listed as the top NameJet “Hot Pick,” and it currently has a bid of $20,000 with 115 bidders already participating. There is a reserve price on the auction, although the reserve is not known.

I asked NameJet GM Jonathan Tenenbaum about the auction, and he commented, “We are always working to bring high-quality inventory on to our platform and this is a prime example of that. SX.COM is an incredible 2-character domain with a very reasonable reserve, and this represents a great opportunity. We are hoping to bring even more of these kinds of domains to the market in the coming months and we are very excited for our customers.”

Follow All Sedo Auctions via RSS

Sedo recently instituted “Direct Auctions,” allowing domain owners to start auctions at any time. This tool can help domain owners sell domain names, but it can also be good for domain investors looking for deals.

One way for a domain investor to take advantage of these auctions is to track the current auctions on Sedo via RSS feed. The feed can be plugged into your favorite RSS feed reader, and you’ll have access to all of the ongoing auctions at Sedo at any given time.

NYPost Covers Private .NYC Domain Auction

I receive emails practically daily asking me to publicize a domain name sale listing or a private domain auction. Unless there is something I find compelling about the auction, I don’t generally write about it.

A couple of days ago, someone I don’t know asked me if I could write about his .NYC domain name auction. I passed on writing an article about it. It looks like this person found a captive audience in the NY Post though, and the publication published an article about his 112 (now 111) .NYC domain name auction that is running on Flippa.

The NY Post wrote, “A Brooklyn accountant is hoping to spark a gold rush in Big Apple cyber real estate.
Recep Ozdincer dropped about $3,500 last year to buy 112 “.nyc” domain names — like billiard.nyc, halfmarathon.nyc, highfrequencytrading.nyc and rodents.nyc — and on Thursday kicked off an online auction for all of them
…” The article included more information about the domain names in the auction as well as some quotes from the domain owner.

Sedo’s June Great Domains Auction Results

Sedo’s June monthly Great Domains auction concluded yesterday, and the results of the auction are listed below. There were quite a few good three letter .com domain names listed for sale in the auction. As you can see, only one of those domain names met the reserve and sold.

YVY.com was the largest sale of the auction, closing at 14,000 EUR (approximately $15,682 USD). There were solid bids on some of the other LLL .com domain names that didn’t hit reserve, so perhaps we will see some of those deals close post-auction. There is an eclectic mix of domain names and extensions in this list of sales.

Because the Great Domains auction concluded yesterday, these sales most likely have not yet closed (paid/transferred). Sedo will report the closed sales in its weekly sales report once the deals are done.

May 2015 Great Domains Auction Results

The Great Domains auction for the month of May ended on Sedo today, and the results are published below. The largest sale of the month was the three letter NKB.com domain name, which sold for $31,000 after some active bidding. The second highest sale of the month was Stock.co.uk, which sold for 4,102 EUR.

Quite a few three letter .net domain names sold at auction. The sale prices ranged from $460 – $1,211. It’s interesting to see the 3 letter .com domain name market jump while the .net market doesn’t seem to have much of an increase in interest (based on my limited observations).

This domain auction ended today, so these deals are most likely still pending. Once they are finalized, they will be reported in Sedo’s monthly sales report.

NamePros Giving Free Publicity to Domain Auctions

NamePros announced that it will be helping its members generate publicity for their NamePros domain auctions by promoting them at the top of the website. The promoted auction links will appear on a rotating basis above the large Uniregistry banner. This added promotion is free of charge for NamePros members.

When it comes to auctions, the first obstacle most people face is publicity. There are thousands of domain names that come up for auction each day, and getting the attention of buyers can be costly (both in terms of advertising dollars and business/personal capital). NamePros has a large following (I am told it is over 1 million pageviews a month), and being able to draw attention to an auction without a cost is beneficial to domain owners.

NamePros administrator Eric Lyon shared more about this promotion and how it will benefit NamePros members:
