Silversea Won a UDRP and the Domain Name is in Expiry Auction

One of the top domain names on the board at GoDaddy Auctions today is SilverSeas.com. The domain name sounds like it could be sort of generic in the color + keyword sense I suppose, but it is very similar to the Silversea cruise line brand name. It is the type of domain name that caught my attention, but I quickly decided it would probably end up causing issues and I am not going to participate in the auction.

Reserve Ranges Added to NamesCon Auction

Many of the domain names that will be included in the NamesCon auction have already been added to the GoDaddy auction page. As we get closer to the conference, I believe more domain names will be added. Yesterday evening, GoDaddy’s Joe Styler announced that the reserve ranges have been added to auction descriptions. Previously, the auctions with reserve prices simply stated “Reserve Not Met” and did not show the reserve ranges:

Sold for $50k, Pharmaceuticals.com in Expiry Auction

In 2015, Pharmaceuticals.com was reportedly sold for $50,000 via Flippa. The sale was reported by TheDomains.com and other domain investment publications. Despite being acquired for $50,000, the Pharmaceuticals.com domain name is in expiry status at GoDaddy, and it is currently up for auction at GoDaddy Auctions. With just under two days remaining in the auction, there have been 102 bids from 24 different bidders, and the high bid stands at $19,250.

Expiry Auctions: To Write or Not Write?

Each expiry or expired domain name auction house has its own rules about renewing domain names. To some extent, its rules are dictated by the upstream partners where the expiry domain names are registered. Put simply, domain names in an expiry auction at GoDaddy Auctions or NameJet may be able to be renewed by the registrant until close to the end of the auction.

NamesCon Auction Now Live on GoDaddy Auctions

When I was looking at some upcoming auctions on GoDaddy Auctions last night, I saw a banner advertising the upcoming NamesCon domain name auction:

Although the banner indicates pre-bidding will begin on December 1, the auction page is now loading. When I visited, I was able to see quite a few domain names that will be included in the auction, in addition to the handful of high value names that were already announced. I looked up a handful of the additional names that have been added, and I can see those are all NameFind portfolio names (owned by GoDaddy).

Submissions Open for NamesCon Live Auction

Domain name submissions are now being accepted for the NamesCon Global domain name auction, according to an email I received from GoDaddy. This year, the live auction will be hosted by GoDaddy. The online portion of the auction will run on the GoDaddy Auctions platform. In previous years, the auction was hosted by NameJet. GoDaddy acquired the parent company of NamesCon in 2016. The live auction will be held during the NamesCon Global conference in Austin, Texas on January 30, 2020.
