Tokens.com Reportedly Sold for $500,000

Tokens.com has been reportedly sold for $500,000 in a deal uncovered by Arbel Arif this evening. Ali Zandi, founder of Starfire Holdings, confirmed that his company sold the domain name in a subsequent comment and in an email to me. The acquisition of Token.com was reported by me today, although that sale was for an undisclosed price.

The $500,000 acquisition of Tokens.com was announced at around the 36 minute mark of a streamed video called The Next Mega Trends In Crypto posted by Tai Lopez:

According to Ali (and the video), the buyer is a company called Polymath, which can be found at Polymath.Network. A Whois record indicates that the domain name has

Token.com Reportedly Sold

Back in November, I noticed that Ali Zandi of Starfire Holdings was brokering the sale of the Token.com domain name. Token.com was owned by a company called Token Media, which switched domain names to TokenMedia.com while their domain name was being marketed.

Yesterday afternoon, I re-visited Token.com to see if anything had changed, and I noticed a new “coming soon” message on the landing page. Using the DomainTools Whois History tool, I also noticed the domain name had transferred from Network Solutions to Tucows earlier in January and the domain name is now registered under Whois privacy. Suspecting the domain name may have been sold, I emailed Ali Zandi to ask about the status of Token.com.

Ali reported to me that the Token.com domain name was sold. Unfortunately, the purchase price (and original asking price) are not being revealed. Here’s what Ali told me via email:

Supernatural.com Reportedly Sold for $215,888

According to an email from Above.com‘s Steve Baik, his company brokered the sale of Supernatural.com for $215,888. Simon Saleem brokered the domain name on behalf of the seller. The buyer appears to have been represented by CSC, and the domain name Whois registration is currently protected by CSC. As such, the buyer of the domain name is unknown for now. The domain name does not yet resolve.

I did not personally verify the sale, but I would imagine it will be reported to DNJournal and Ron Jackson will verify the sale price.

Once Ron verifies the sale and includes it in his weekly public domain name sales report, it will

NameBio Adds Crypto Domain Sales Category

Tracking cryptocurrency related domain name sales has not been easy. Some of the larger public sales stand out on Sedo’s weekly sales report and in DNJournal, but it has been difficult to track sales of crypto related domain names without putting in much effort.

With crypto domain names being so popular lately, a couple of weeks ago, I reached out to NameBio’s Michael Sumner to ask about a crypto category within NameBio’s domain name sales database. Michael explained the difficulty in creating a special category like this. There are many keywords in cryptocurrency-specific domain names that could cross-over into other categories or be parts of longer words.

Over the weekend, Michael emailed me again to let me know he custom tailored a crypto-domain name subcategory. You can visit this link on NameBio to have a look at a search of crypto domain name sales without including the extension. If you want to drill it down further by extension, by date, or by other factors, you can find the crypto domain subcategory under “Other.” As of right now, there are approximately 2,000 cryptocurrency domain name sales archived in NameBio.

Michael shared some insight about how he created this search subset:

Mike Mann Sells CryptoWorld.com via Sedo for $194,888

According to a tweet from Sedo broker Dave Evanson, Mike Mann sold the CryptoWorld.com domain name for $194,888 via Sedo:

It looks like Mike Mann’s company has owned this domain name since late 2011, according to DomainTools Whois history tool. While I don’t know what Mike’s company paid to buy the domain name, NameBio recorded that this domain name sold in 2006 for just $485.

The Whois information is currently showing Sedo’s escrow account, which means the buyer has paid for the domain name but the domain name has not yet transferred. It also means that we do not yet know who acquired the domain name or how it will be used going forward.

When I was doing a Whois history search, I saw that Screenshots.com has

Publica.io Acquires Publica.com

About a week ago, Sedo reported the sale of Publica.com, which sold via its platform for $75,000. Although it is very early in the year, the sale currently ranks as the second largest public sale of the year on the DNJ sales chart. Had it closed in 2017, it would have ranked in the top 100 public domain name sales last year.

I was monitoring the Whois information to see who took possession of the domain name after it left Sedo’s escrow account. Although the Whois information is private so the registrant is not known for certain, it looks like the company that operates Publica.io acquired Publica.com. If you visit Publica.com, you will be forwarded to the Publica.io website. Publica is “an ICO and platform for publishing books in the blockchain era.”

According to CoinMarketCap.com, a website that covers the cryptocurrency market, I believe Publica’s ICO has a market cap of nearly $30 million USD. At the time of publication, each token (PBL) trades
