Jeffrey Reynolds Named “Man of the Year” By Local Newspaper

People in the domain investment space probably know Jeffrey Reynolds best from his ownership of  AmericanFlags.com. Jeff’s company also owns a number of other excellent domain names in addition to this business. I’ve been fortunate to have met Jeff a few times, and we have also done some business together.

Even with Jeff’s success as an Internet entrepreneur, he is more well known for his work as the Executive Director of the Long Island Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (LICADD). Jeff has dedicated his life to helping others who are struggling with addiction, and I am happy to share news about an honor that was bestowed upon him yesterday morning.

Aftermarket.com Would Like to Meet at NamesCon

One of the best ways a company can improve its offerings is to meet with clients and potential clients. The domain investment space is unique in that the number of people who are active is relatively small, and it’s a fairly tight knit community compared to other types of asset classes.

When it comes to domain name marketplaces, there are two companies that are ahead of the pack in terms of sales and listings – Afternic and Sedo. Aftermarket.com is most likely the third largest private domain resale marketplace in terms of domain name listings (an unverified assumption).

I received an email last night from Aftermarket.com that I want to share with you. I think it’s a great idea for them to reach out to clients in this manner, and I wish other companies did the same. I receive these types of emails from other companies, but I think

DNForum Opens Domain Sales for Bitcoins Section

Last night, I happened to come across a new domain sales section on DNForum, “Domains For Sale (Accepting Bitcoins) – Fixed Price.” People who want to sell their domain names for Bitcoins as payment may list their domain names for sale in that specific forum.

According to an unscientific poll I ran the other day, a little more than half of the people who voted in the poll said they

Domain Name Association Membership Overview

Yesterday, I wrote an article about the Domain Name Association, and I was hoping someone from the organization might offer some information about membership benefits to domain investors. Mike Berkens, whose Right of The Dot, LLC company is an Affiliate member of the DNA, shared some of his insight about the organization.

This morning on Twitter, The DNA posted a link to a membership presentation it gave at the ICANN 48 meeting in Buenos Aires in November. For the benefit of those who couldn’t make it to the ICANN meeting, I have embedded the slideshow presentation below for your review. This may answer some of the questions you have about this new trade organization.

If you have membership questions or other queries, you should

Considering a Membership in Domain Name Association

The DNAThe Domain Name Association (DNA) is described as a “new non-profit global business association that represents the interests of the domain name industry.” Major companies like Demand Media, Donuts, GoDaddy, Google, and Amazon are listed as members of the DNA. I think it’s great that a major trade organization exists to promote domain names and the domain name industry.

The mission statement of the organization seems to be fairly broad:

Andee Hill and Gregg McNair Co-Found Escrow Service

EscrowHill.com LogoLast week, I was working on a deal transacted at Escrow.com, and I reached out to Andee Hill for an update. Shortly after sending my email, I learned that Andee was no longer working at the company. This morning, there was a press release to announce that Andee and Gregg McNair have teamed up to establish an escrow services company called EscrowHill.com.

Whenever I’ve needed something or had an issue at Escrow.com, Andee has always been able to provide assistance. Andee worked at Escrow.com since 1999, most recently as Director of Business Development. Based on the press release I received, it appears the company’s focus will be on
