Dynadot emailed customers today to introduce a new Know Your Customer (KYC) verification process that will pertain to registrants of certain domain name extensions. The registrar announced these KYC requirements are for .DE and .NO domain name registrants, but “additional extensions potentially added in the future.”
Domain registrants who have .DE and .NO domain names will need to be KYC verified in order to make standard changes to their domain names – like registering, transferring, or pushing domain names to other accounts. I am unsure if any changes can be made to domain names in those extensions if KYC is not done.
Dynadot published two associated articles on its website covering KYC. The first article provides information about KYC and why it is necessary for specific domain name extensions. The second article provides information about how to complete the KYC process at Dynadot.
I am unsure if other registrars will have the same requirements for these particular extensions. I have not received any notifications from registrars other than the one I received from Dynadot. I do not own any .DE or .NO domain names.
