DropCatch: Backorder Time Changing

I do all of my domain name auction research in the morning while I drink coffee. I spend time analyzing the drop lists and researching the domain names that catch my attention. Typically, all of my backorders and opening bids are placed well before lunch.

It looks like I am going to have to make changes to my schedule as it pertains to backorders on DropCatch.com. According to a message above the logo on the dropcatching platform, the backorder deadline is changing.

“Backorder cutoff changing October 1: The .com/.net cutoff moves earlier to 11:30 UTC (5:30 AM your local time). Place your backorders before the new cutoff. Full details coming soon.”

At the moment, I believe the deadline is around 12:30 or 1pm. I don’t usually wait until the deadline to place my backorders so I am not certain.

This change will mean I need to place my backorders the morning before because I am not going to be awake to research before the backorder deadline, and I am not going to change my routine to add work in the evening when I am doing things with my family.

I don’t love the change, but since DropCatch doesn’t reveal the number of backorders – at least to my knowledge – it shouldn’t really matter when I place my backorder.

I am unsure if other drop catching platforms will follow suit. I assume we will learn more about this in a subsequent update, and that could help explain whether this is a DropCatch reason or if something else is changing and all providers will be impacted.
