Heritage.com Acquired by Heritage Auctions

6

Heritage AuctionsHeritage Auctions has (smartly) acquired the Heritage.com domain name. I would consider this an upgrade, but the company already owns the powerful HA.com domain name, so this is more of a complementary acquisition. I think this was a smart purchase by the company.

If you visit Heritage.com, you will be forwarded to the main HA.com website. You can see the SSL says "Heritage Capital Corporation," and the company is tracking the traffic delivered via the domain name.

This afternoon, Heritage Auctions published a press release announcing the acquisition. In it, James Halperin, Co-Chairman of Heritage Auctions said, "Memorable internet addresses are crucial to today's successful digital commerce, and acquiring HERITAGE.com is another convenient method for clients recognize us and connect with us."

In August of 2016, I suggested that Heritage Auctions should buy the Heritage.com domain name that was listed for sale via Flippa. At that time, the domain name was listed for sale for (more…) → Read More

Aron Meystedt Acquires OC.com

Heritage AuctionsHeritage Auctions (HA) had been brokering the OC.com domain name on behalf of a Dallas company called Open Connect. HA received some good publicity for OC.com, but the domain name was not sold until this week. The Whois record was updated, and the new owner of the domain name is Aron Meystedt's XF.com Company. As you likely know, Aron also works for Heritage Auctions.

I asked Aron if he could share some insight about how the deal came about since people might be curious about how the person responsible for brokering the domain name ended up acquiring it. Here's what Aron told me about this:

"We had a 3 month timeline for Heritage to sell the name. They (seller) understood that getting top dollar takes time, but they were really interested in moving the name by the end of July. As our three month deadline approached, and after extensive outreach, we had yet to see a buyer produce a fair offer. It was decided that Heritage and I would give the seller liquidity and purchase the name ourselves.

Heritage Auctions Gets Publicity for OC.com

A couple of weeks ago, Aron Meystedt of Heritage Auctions emailed me because his company is brokering the sale of the two letter OC.com domain name. It's a nice domain name made valuable because it is a two letter .com, and "OC" could stand for Orange County, among many other meanings (or nothing at all).

Because of the OC acronym, it looks like the domain name is getting some good local coverage in Orange County. You can have a look at the article in the Orange County Business Journal (found at OCBJ.com). I also embedded a copy of the print edition, so you can see how it looks to readers who receive the paper version of the publication.

The OCBJ is a weekly journal, and the article about OC.com was on the front page and appears on the website's home page. I don't know how effective an article in the local business publication will be when it comes to selling this high value domain name, but I presume (more…) → Read More

Black.com Being Marketed by Heritage Auctions

30

Aron Meystedt, Director of the Domain Name and Intellectual Property Department at Heritage Auctions, announced that his company is brokering Black.com. I don't see a ton of high value domain names like this one  come on the market regularly (especially with an asking price listed), so I wanted to share what Aron wrote:

I am proud to announce that Heritage Auctions (HA.com) is the exclusive seller of Black.com, a name that has never been available to the public.

The asking price is $750,000 and it is a sure fit for a major brand waiting to be launched. Few names carry the "punch" that Black.com does. Jet.com comes to mind. Black.com could be a brand with an "exclusivity" feature.

Email me if you have interest. Please, NO brokers. We aren't looking for co-brokerage deals right now. If you are a broker and have a buyer with a budget of $750,000 – let me know. But we don't want the name sent out to your mailing list please.

I recently published an article with (more…) → Read More

Heritage Auctions Brokering “Major .CO Portfolio”

10

HA.com LogoAron Meystedt, Director of the Domain Names and IP category at Heritage Auctions, emailed me about a portfolio of domain names his company is brokering on behalf of an undisclosed client. The portfolio is made up of approximately 750 one word and short .CO domain names.

Here's what Aron said about this portfolio:

One of our clients is selling the best .co portfolio on the market. There are approximately 750 names, and a majority of them are ultra-short and one word names perfect for branding – and could easily be sold one at a time.

Some of the domain names in the portfolio that Aron highlighted and that I saw include the following one word .CO domain names: (more…) → Read More

Heritage Auctions Should Buy Heritage.com

18

HA.com LogoOne of my favorite listings on Flippa right now is Heritage.com. The domain name is being brokered by Chris Waters (of Domain Holdings) and it has a buy it now price of $300,000 with a $100,000 minimum offer. I think this is the perfect domain name for Heritage Auctions.

Heritage Auctions already has a fantastic domain name in HA.com. You can't get shorter than HA.com, and it is certainly easy to remember. Heritage.com would also make a great name for Heritage Auctions, since that is a major part of their branding.

Owning Heritage.com would (more…) → Read More
