I have several templates I have crafted to respond to purchase inquiries. These templates vary based on the type of domain name. For instance, inventory-quality domain names have a pretty standard response but higher value domain names are more custom tailored based on the domain name and my history with it.

Plans.com Sold for $275k via Squadhelp

Squadhelp announced that Plans.com was sold for $275,000 via its recently launched Ultra Premium Domain Marketplace. It was the first sale closed on Squadhelp’s high end domain name marketplace. Some details about the sale were shared on Twitter/X by the company:

Squadhelp CEO Darpan Munjal commented to me on the sale:

“The Ultra premium marketplace is still in a private Beta, and the domains can be currently searched via the discovery tools on Squadhelp.com. I believe there is a massive potential for an exclusive destination of top tier domains and we are already seeing quite a bit of inbound interest for higher end domains. We plan to amplify the marketing exposure after our public launch in the coming weeks.”

Once the sale is added to DNJournal’s year to date sales report, it will rank as a top 10 public domain name sale YTD. I added it to the Embrace.com list of recent one word .com domain name sales.

Squadhelp recently announced it would begin accepting listing submissions for its premium marketplace.

Add a Sweetener to Pay off LTO Early

Domain name lease to own deals are great. They generate monthly income, and if the buyer opts to discontinue paying, I get to keep all of the payments and have the chance to re-sell the domain name. One thing better than a LTO deal is when the buyer decides to purchase the domain name in full – – earlier than expected.

In my LTO purchase agreements, I give the buyer an option to pay off the deal early at a discount. The buyer can save anywhere from 10-20% of the total purchase price if paid-off early. The discount rate varies depending on my profit margin and the length of time for the payment plan.

If You Receive a UDRP Threat, Consult with a Lawyer

It must be concerning to receive a notice of a pending UDRP. Not only might a valuable domain name be on the line, but an investor’s reputation may also be at risk. If a UDRP is filed against one of my domain names – or even if a threat was made – I would consult with a domain name attorney.

Someone posted about receiving a UDRP notice, and I shared this recommendation. It is a good idea to get educated about trademarks and UDRP filings, but I would always work with an attorney on a UDRP defense or even a response to a threat. It’s not worth complicating my situation by responding to a UDRP or a threat on my own without getting advice from an expert.

2 Weeks Until Next Verisign .com Price Hike

On September 1, 2023 – two weeks from now – the wholesale price of .com domain names is going to increase to $9.59/year. Verisign operates the .com registry, and the annual price is going to increase by 7%, according to a report about Verisign by Zacks Investment Research appearing on Yahoo Finance:

“The company plans to increase the annual registry-level wholesale fee for each new and renewal .com domain name registration from $8.97 to $9.59, with effect from Sep 1, 2023.”

If this sounds familiar, it is because Verisign increased the wholesale price of .com domain names a year ago.

Squadhelp: Submit Names for Ultra Premium Domain Marketplace

Squadhelp will soon roll out with its Ultra Premium Domain Marketplace in partnership with Hilco Digital Assets. The sales and branding platform recently began selecting domain names for its high-end marketplace.

Yesterday afternoon, Squadhelp announced it would begin accepting domain name submissions from domain registrants for inclusion on its premium marketplace. I do not believe the domain names need to be previously approved on Squadhelp in order to be considered:
