Rick Schwartz Gives TRAFFIC Price and Auction Update

I am planning to make my second trip of the year to Las Vegas for the TRAFFIC conference, which will be held May 28 to 31 at the Bellagio. This morning, Rick Schwartz shared a couple of TRAFFIC updates I want to share with you because time is of the essence.

In reference to the cost of attending, Rick announced:

TRAFFIC Conference to Hold No Reserve gTLD Domain Auction

Rick Schwartz sent out a TRAFFIC conference update this morning, and one of the most interesting pieces of information he shared is that there will be a no reserve gTLD domain name auction held during the conference. The domain names that are being listed for sale will be directly from the registry. It will most likely be the first public new gTLD live auction.

Here is what Rick had to say about the auctions as well as the gTLD focus at this year’s TRAFFIC conference in Las Vegas:

TRAFFIC “Black Friday” Special Offer

I thought I would pass along this special “Black Friday” offer from Rick Schwartz that was sent to people on the TRAFFIC mailing list this afternoon:

Sign up for T.R.A.F.F.I.C. this Friday, Black Friday, and not only does it include 2 or 3 nights at the Bellagio, T.R.A.F.F.I.C. will pick you up at the airport with our Executive Car Service at no extra cost and whisk you right to the hotel’s front door. Just buy your tickets this Friday. One day only. Black Friday!

Thoughts on the TRAFFIC Conference

8

I’m flying home to Boston after the Traffic conference, and I want to share some thoughts about the last few days in Ft. Lauderdale. As usual, the conferences was productive for me, and I got my money’s worth from attending.

  • At breakfast this morning, Howard Neu asked how many new Traffic attendees were in the audience, and it appeared to be quite a few. Vincent Jacques wrote a couple of articles about his experience as a first time attendee on Hybrid Domainer, and the articles are worth a read. If you’re thinking about attending for the first time and want to know if you’ll get your money’s worth, you should reach out to Vin. He’s approachable, and I bet he’ll give you an honest answer about what he liked and didn’t like.
  • There were probably somewhere in the ballpark of

Will Broncos.com Sell Today?

A couple of weeks ago, I asked readers to vote on what they thought the Broncos.com domain name is worth. 32% of the people who voted think Broncos.com is worth $400,000 or more. Interestingly, 20% of the people who voted think Broncos.com is worth less than $100,000. The vote totals were pretty evenly spread out, so there wasn’t a consensus on the value of the domain name.

Broncos.com is for sale today in the TRAFFIC conference live domain name auction at 4:30pm. According to the conference website, the reserve price of Broncos.com is

Make Your TRAFFIC Appointments Now

I’ve generally been under the assumption that most people who attend a domain conference like TRAFFIC basically wing it when it comes to meetings. Most of my meetings with friends and colleagues are unplanned, and they generally take place randomly during the conference.

In the last week or so, I’ve received a number of emails from colleagues asking to make meeting appointments with them. It’s a good idea to set up meeting times, since I almost always go home realizing that I didn’t get a chance to speak with someone I wanted to see, and had I made an appointment, it would have been more difficult to miss.

If there’s someone you want to meet at TRAFFIC in Ft Lauderdale, don’t
