When I read Ron Jackson’s weekly domain name sales report this week, one sale stood out to me the most. 6.XYZ reportedly sold for $125,000 in a deal brokered by FindYourDomain. Not only was this the largest publicly reported sale of the week, but it also currently ranks #54 in DNJournal’s year to date sales chart.

After reading about the sale, I reached out to .XYZ registry CEO and founder Daniel Negari to ask for more information about the sale. Daniel confirmed that the 6.XYZ domain name was owned by the registry, and it was sold in an all-cash deal. The buyer of the domain name had inquired about this domain name, and the two parties were able to reach a deal.

Uniregistry launched its .BlackFriday new gTLD domain extension in July of 2014. According to nTLDStats.com, there are currently a bit more than  12,000 .BlackFriday domain names registered.

I wanted to see if and how major retailers are using .BlackFriday domain names. I looked at the exact match .BlackFriday domain names for 25 of the top 100 retailers, according to the National Retail Federation’s Top 100 Retailers 2015 list. To select the retailers that have an online presence and would be expected to have Black Friday deals, I used my judgment to create this list from the larger list of 100 retailers, eliminating brands like Jack in the Box and Wegman’s.

There Are Now 10 Million New gTLD Domain Names

10 Million New gTLD Domain Names

According to nTLDStats.com, there are now over 10 million new gTLD domain names registered. The current total noted by the new gTLD tracking website is actually 10,096,774.

Just a couple of weeks ago, the 9 million registration mark was hit, and it seems like the registration number is gaining speed. I would primarily attribute this to a combination of factors including  purchases  (perhaps speculation) from China-based domain name registrants, low registration  prices, and the announcement of Alphabet by Google and its usage of a new gTLD domain name, ABC.XYZ for its website.

4 Number .Club Domain Names Registered

Colin Campbell, Chairman and founder of the .Club registry, posted a tweet to let people know that “[s]omeone is snapping up all .CLUB 4 number names this morning.” I did a few Whois searches, and the domain names I looked up were all registered. New gTLD Registrations Pass 9 Million Mark

As you can see from the tweet above posted by Akram Atallah, there are now more than 9 million new gTLD domain names that have been registered. There are nearly 800 new gTLD domain name strings that have been delegated.

According to nTLDStats.com, as of this morning, there are 9,027,478 registered domain names. The five new gTLD extensions that have the most registered domain names are .XYZ, .Top, .Wang, .网址 (xn--ses554g), and .Science.
